Be it known that I, VICTOR GUINZBURG, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Garments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an 4improvement in a garment preferably made of an` expansible impervious material such as sheet rubber or the like. the purpose of such a garment -being to reduce or remove the superfluous flesh of the wearer.

' A garment of this character is known as a reducing garment, and the object of this invention is to provide such a garment made from a plurality of sections of material which are united and reinforced at vthe points of joinder of the various sections by an improved reinforcing means.

A further object of this invention is to provide a garment of this character which will extend over the hips of the wearer and may be wornby women in place of a corset 'v and which will be provided at its lower edge with means for engaging with the upper end of the garters.

A still further object of the invention is, to provide a garment of the character above mentioned with means for supporting or receiving the garters or hose supporters, said means being so locate@ and positioned and arranged that the stralncr pull of the garteis cannot distortor tear the rubber gar. j, ment to which the lupper end of the garters may be attached.

With these objects and such other-objectsas may hereinafter a.ppearin view, I have devised the particular arrangement of parts disclosed in Figure 2;

Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view of the portions of the garment shown in Figures 2 and 3; and' Figure 5 is a perspective view of the portions of the garment shown in Figures Q and 3 with the various parts being folded back to disclose construction. Throughout the various views of the drawings, similar reference characters designate similar parts. l

In Figure l of the draw-ing is disclosed the complete reducing garment which is intended to it over the hips of the wearer and which is preferably made of an impervious expansible material such as sheet rubber.

The garment is preferably made of several sections of material, the section 1 comprising the rear section and the sections 2 and 3 comprising the front sections. The two front sections 2 and 3 are preferably detachably united on the line 4, when the garment is used, by means of any suitable detachable fasteners, such as hooks and eyes, laces andthe like. The' two front sections are shaped to fit the wearer properly by means of the plurality of reinforced gorings 5.

The upper edge of the garment is provided with a lsuitable reinforcing strip G which is preferably made of rubber similar to that of the body of the garment and the lower edge of'the garment is also provided with a continuous reinforcing strip 7 which extends co-entensivelyv with the lower edge of the garment and is preferably located on the outer face of the garment so that itdoes not come into contact with the body of the wearer while the garment is worn.

The edges of the body sections l. 2 and fl are preferably joined together .on the lines 8 by vulcanization and said lines of joinder are preferably reinforced by a plurality of reinforcing strips as will now be described.

On the inner face of the garment a singlet reinforcing strip 9 extends over the seam or joint and this strip 9 isof very thin rubber. and is cemented or'vulcanized over the joint 8. On the opposite side. or outer face of the garment a similar strip l0 is used. said strip extending transversely of the garment fromits upper to its lower edge. The outer face of the garment is further rein-- forced by a substantially wide rubber strip 11 which lies over or on top of the strip 10 and is secured over said strip and to the V. a pair of body o f the garment. This strip 11 extends c'o-extensibly with the strip 10 from the upper edge of the garment to its lower edge and it also extends over the bottom reinforcing strip 7.

It is also to be noted that the lower end of the strip 1-1 is inturned or folded back so that the same projects on the inner face of the garment as at 12 and said inward extension 12 is secured on-the inner face of the' of the garment.

" At 14a is shown a section of inelastic textile material which is placed between the reinforcing strip 11 and the longitudinal bottom reinforcing strip 7. At 14 is located spaced eyelets which extend through the strip 11, the section of textile fabric 14a, the reinforcing strip'7, the body of the garment and through the folded back portion 12 of the strip 11. These eyelets 14 are intended to receive a safety pin or other fastening device attached to the upper end of the hose supporters The strips 11 are of cvourse preferably,

. located at those points in the garment where the upper -end ofthe hose supporter is adapted to be attached and the eyelets 14 .extending through the various thicknesses of material mentioned =above are able to readily withstand the pull of the garter without becoming detached or distorting ortearing the rubber garment in any manner.

By reason of the fact that the various reinforcing strips 9, A10 and 11 are located on the line of the garter pull, the garment is reinforced by said strips at this point as the thickened portions produced bythe various reinforcing strips render the garmelrlit less elastic along the lineof the garter pu s The section of textile fabric interposed between the strips 7 and 11 prevents the eyelets from readily becoming dislodged 'and prevents the holes in the rubber materials surrounding the eyelets from becoming enlarged or torn. A

It is also to be noted that the flanges 15 and 16 on opposite sides of the eyelets 14 are of similar size completely'preventing the eyelets from being pulled ordrawn out of the garment when the garment is placed under greater strain or pull. 'J'

From the foregoing, it is obvious that my invention is not to be restricted to the-exact embodiment shown but is broad enough to cover all structures coming within the scope of the annexed claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A rubber garment having'a rein-forc-v ing strip extending substantially vertical when the garment isworn, means extending through the strip and through the body of the ,garment at the lower end of the stripA I for receiving a garter, and a section of inelastic fabric situated at'the pont of location of the garter-receiving means.

2. A garment composed of expansible rubber, said garment having a rubber reinvforcing strip extending from its upper edge to its lower edge, a section of inexpansible fabric` interposed between said strip and the body of the vgarment at the lower edge of said garment',and a' reinforced opening `extendinor through the strip, the fabric, and

the bodyof the garment. v

3. A garment composed of an expansible material, a reinforcing strip of expansible material extending from the upper edge of the'garm'ent to its lower edge on the line of a seam in said garment, said strip being located on one face of the garment and vbeing folded back on the opposite face' of the garment at the lower edge of said garment, and a pair of spaced eyelets extending through the folded-portion of said strip and through the body of the garment.

. 4. A garment of the class described comprising a back section and two front sections, reinforcing strips located over the lines of joinder of said sections, said strips extending from the upper edge of'said garment to the lower edge of the same, said strips being folded back on the opposite face of the garment at the lower edge ofv the same, a section of textile fabric lying between said strips and the body of the Oarment, -.and rein orcedopenings extending lthrough the doubled portions ofthe strips,

the textile fabric and the body of the garment.
