An additional object of the invention is to provide means associated with a bath tub that will prevent scum and other dirt from accumulating on the sides of the tu andwilleliminatethediflicultand able task of washing out the tub after using same.
These and like objects of the invention will be better understood as the description proceeds and as is specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawing in detail, which forms a part of this specification,
F' 1 is a vertical longitudinal section ofa athtubconstructedinaccordancewith m invention.

In the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates thebody ofatub, whicheanbeofsny desired construction and shape, 2 the r v the support-i2? base, 4 the drain position mthebottom thetub,and5thewaterinlet pi one of which is cold water and the 0 hot water.
The rear end of-the tub I or the adjacent the inlet pipes isprovided with a mixing 6, which communicates with (he hotand cold water pipes. The chamber 6 is (gartly covered by the flalifie 7whichexten allthewa aroundthet as is clearly indicated in 1. After the hot and cold water have thoroughly mixed in the chamber 6 the water up into the rim 2 and the force of the water entering the mixing chamber 6 forces the water around the flange 7 all the way around the rim of the tub, and allows same to enter the body 1 through a series of openings 8 formed between the rim 2 and the walls ril i Ih h 11111 Odl igure3, aves ownas g tym fied form, wherein the flange 7 of the tub issoshapedasat9topermitacertain amount of water to remam on the flan thus heating or cooling the rim 2 as e case may be.
In Figure 4, I have shown a modified form, wherein the flange 7 is so formed as at 10 to compel all the water held on same to be discharged into the tub.
In Figure 5, I have shown a still further modified form, wherein the rim 2 is formed with a partition 11, so that while hot and cold water may be mixed and forced around in the compartment 12 and discharged through the openings 8, hot or cold water can also be forced into the compartment 13, and discharged out of the opengngls 14 to permit the of a shower In order to permit the cleanin out of the mixing chamber 6, a screw threa ed plu 15 is positioned therein, which can be rear lily removed.
From the foregoing description of my invention taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it can be readily seen that have provided! an improved bath tub,
which is durable, eflicient for the purpose intended, and one that can be manufactured and installed at a relatively low cost.
While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, I realize that various minor changes may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed, and therefore, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact details of construction shown, nor to the combination and arrangement of parts.
In view of the foregoing description of my invention taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is thought that any further explanation as to the construc tion and objects of the invention are unnecesary. However, I wish to have it understood that while I have only shown my invention applied to a bath tub, same can he used for sinks, wash tubs, wash basins, and similar vessels, and soap may be mixed with the water so as to make the cleaning agent more efiicient.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a assageway formed around the upper edge 0? the receptacle and communicating therewith, a mixing chamber formed at the forward portion of the passageway below the same, sald mixing chamber having communication with the passageway in its top wall so that said chamber will be filled before the water can enter the passageway, and means for connecting hot and cold water pipes to the mixing chamber.
2. A. device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a passageway formed around the upper edge of the receptacle, a mixing chamber formed at the forward portion of the passageway below the same, a bafile plate attached to one of the side walls of the mixing chamber and extending partially across the top thereof between the way and the same, and means for connecti hot and cold water pipes to the mixing 0 amber.
3. A device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a geway formed, around the upper edge 0 the receptacle and communicating therewith, a mixing chamber formed at the forward portion of the passageway below the same, said mixing chamber having communication with the passageway in its to wall so that said chamber will be filled fore the water can enter the passageway, means for connecting hot and cold water pipes to the mixing chamber, and means for draining said mixing chamber.
4. A device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a o r 1 way formed around the u per edge of the receptacle, a mixing cham r formed at the forward portion of the passageway below the same, a baflle plate attached to one of the side walls of the mixing chamber and extending partially across the top thereof between the passageway and the same, and hot and cold water pipes connected to said mixing chamber on the opposite side from which said bafile plate extends.
5. The combination with a receptacle of a passageway having two rows or series of apertures at its lower side communicating with said receptacle, a partition separating the two rows of apertures to form two passageways, a mixing chamber formed at the forward part of the rim communicating with the passageways, and means for supplyin hot and cold water into said mixing cham r.
In testimony whereof, I have affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
