Description

1,510,970 T. BABIN I SINK Filed June 24, 1921 Patented Oct. 7, 1924.
TELESPHORE BABIN, OF HOUMA, LOUISIANA.
SINK.
Application filed .Tune 24,
- ful Sink; and I do hereby declare the folis provided with an upwardly extending lowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to "sinks, for its object to provide a device of this character, which is, formed from a single sheet of metal bent to form bottom, end, front and rear walls, and which. rear wall porand has tion forming a splash member. v
A further object is to provide the upper ends of the end and front walls of the sink withrolls, thereby reinforcing said walls and to secure the end walls of the rear wall. by providin the rolls of the end walls with extensions disposed in apertures in the rear wall and which extensions engage the rear side of the rear wall, thereby rigidly securing the end wall to the rear wall.
With the above and otherobjects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention ma be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings :-I
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the sink, parts being broken away to show the struc- Figure 2 is a top plan view of the sink, parts being broken away to show the structure.

1921. Serial No. 480,036.
bottom 5 of the body portion 3 is inclined as shownin Figure 1 so that the Water will drain from the-sink. The bottom 2 adja-' cent one side of the sink is provided with an annular flange 6, to'which flange issecured in any suitable manner a downwardly extending annular sleeve 7, the bottom of which sleeve is closed by the conically shaped bottom 8, the annular flange 9 of which receives the lower end of the sleeve 7. Flange 9 issec'ured to the sleeve 7 in any suitable manner for forming a watertight joint. The conically shaped bottom 8 terminates in a downwardly extending tubular section 10 which tubular section telescopically engages the upper end 11 of a waste pipe 12. The tubular extension 10 is provided with a rubber plug 13, which plug when in position allows the accummulation of water within the auxiliary chamber 14, thereby allowing a limited amount of 'hot water to be used and sufficient depth of water to be obtained Without filling the main chamber 15 of the sink, which would require a great deal of water. If so desired the auxiliary chamber 14: may be filled with water and dishes washed therein, then deposited on the inclined bottom 5 of the sink, thereby allowing the water from the dishes to drain back into the chamber 14. It. will be seen that by so constructing the sink the use of the drain board is obvlated.
The'sink as a whole may be cast in one pece o-r stamped from metal in onepiece.
owever it is preferably built up of sheet metal with reinforcing ribs 16, the ,ends 17 of which are riveted ,at 18 in the back 4, thereby additionally bracing the sink and forming a rigid structure.
It will be seen that by providing the reinforcing ribs on the end walls and riveting the ends thereof at 18 to the rear wall, the rear wallwill be securely bound to the side walls and the side walls braced by said conneotion.
is claimed as new and useful is':-
A sink formed from sheet metal, the body I ofsaid sink being formed from a single ,sheet of metal bent to form end walls, front wardly above the upper side of the and rear walls, the rear wall extending upthereby forming asplaish member, the upper name to this specifieaution in the presence ed es of said walls being provided with reof two subscribing Witnesses in 'orcing rolls, the rear ends of the rolls of the end walls extending through the rear TELESPHORE BABIN.
wall and overlying the rear side of the reel" Witnesses: wall JHEnNmr P. BERGER,
In testimony whereof I have signed my Fnem H. Wnmmmms.
