- TOY.
Application filed February 11, 1922. Serial No. 535,824.
This invention relates to a toy, the general object of the invention being to provide a body .body raises the le toy made to represent ananimal and which is provided with a roller eccentrically mounted so that the toy will be given an up and down motion'as it is moved along.
Another object of the invention is to provide the to with movable legs which are so arranged that they will be moved back and forth by the up and down movement of. the I This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed outMin the appended claim. I
In describing my invention in detail, ref! erence will he had tothe accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and-in which f Figure 1 is a side view of theinvention. Figures 2 and 3 aredetail views. In these views 1 indicates the body of the toy which is preferably formed of a stri of Wood which iscut to represent an anima 'The under part of the body is provided with a recess 2 to receive a roller 3. Metal plates 4 cover the ends of the recess and receive the ends of the pivot in 5 of the roller, this )in being eocentricall y arranged in the roller. Legs 6 are pivoted to the body, as at 7, and the heel arts are connected together by means of t 1e pin 8 which passesbeneath the body, its object being to cause the two feet coming in moved backward, thus the feet will be given to move together and to add weight to. theparts.
The body can be pulled along by. a string or the likeor it may be provided with a spring motor which is arranged torotate the ,roller 3. As the toy moves along the fi oor the roller revolves and its eccentric .pivotpin will causethe roller to raise and lower the front part of the toy.
will slide upon the surface.
s will move forwardly under the action 0 gravity and then when the body moves downwardly again the feet contact with the floor willbe a walking motion. 0
Where the toy is made to represent an animal with four legs, two eccentrically ar'- ranged rollers would be used so as to give motion toboth pairs of'legs.
It is thought from the .foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily a parent.
I desire it to be understood "that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim "is A toy comprising a body having a tail ex;- tending at one end which is adaptedv to engage the surface', upo'n which, the toy is roller arranged inthe recess for engaging the said surface, a leg pivotally secured to The, tail part of the As the each side of the body above the roller and arranged to move downwardly and forwardly under the action of gravity as the body'is raised bythe roller and to be moved backwardly through engagement to the support ing surface when the body is lowered.
