- S. SEDRANSKY WRISTBAND ADAFTED FOR CARRYING ARTICLES Filed May 27. 1921 Patented Sept. 16, 1924.
UNITED STATES 1,508,940 PATENT, OFFICE.
SAMUEL SEDRANSKY, OF BRONX, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO SAMUEL MARCUS, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
WRISTBAND ADAPTED r03 cARnYING ARTICLES.
' -Application filed May 27,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL SEnRANsKY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bronx, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements im Wristbands Adapted for Carrying Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a wrist band adapted for carrying articles, particularly coins or other valuables, and an ob ect of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device for this purpose which Wlll. be
both of an attractive appearance and capable of being manufactured at small cost Other objects and aims of the invention, more or less specific than those referred to above, will be in part obvious and in part pointed'out in the course of the following i description of the elements, combinations, arrangements of parts and applications of principles, constituting the invention, and the scope of protect-ion contemplated will be indicated in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings which are to be taken as a part of the specification, and in which I have shown merely a preferred form of embodiment of the invention:-
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a band constructed in accordance with this invention, the receptacle carrier beingshown in transverse section, and
. Figure 2 is a top plan View, partly broken 5 away, of the device seen in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings for describing in detail the structure which is therein illustrated, the rererence character L indicates the wrist band proper. This may consist of l 4 a leather, cloth, or other suitable strap having a buckle device 1 for connecting together its opposite ends in position encircling a wearers wrist. The reference character G indicates the article carrier. This may be constructed in any suitable or approved manner capable of containing the articles and efiicient-ly guarding them against possible loss. In the exemplary structure illustrated, however, the
article carrier consists of a. lower, or base, member 2 and an upper, or cover, member 3. These parts may be made of any desired shape, or may be ornamented in any suitable manner. As illustrated, they are shaped to form a simple flat cylindrical box;that is,

material.
The base member has its flat bottom wall 4 provided with a pair of apertures, or slots,
5 and 6, theretliru thru which the strap, or band, member L is threaded, being introduced thru the slot 5 into the interior of the box and thence passing outwardly again thru slot 6.
The cover member is provided with a pair of oppositely disposed ears 7 and 8 thereon and these ears are formed with openings 9 and 10 respectively.
The strap L is threaded thru the opening 9, said strap and the walls of said opening constituting a pivot bearing by which the cover member is suitably pivotally connected in position to be swung on to, or ofi' of, the base member.
A fastening tab H is connected with car 8 and carries a snap fastener element 11 adapted to engage with a cooperative element 12 carried by the strap L for hold ing the cover member in closed position when desired.
The fastening tab may be made in. any
appropriate manner but preferably consists of a short length of strap material folded upon itself and extended thru the opening 10, the free ends of the strap material being permanently held together 'by the snap fastener element 11.
In use the wearer, having adjusted the strap L about his wrist, can readily open the box G by disengaging the. snap fastener and swinging the cover member upwardly. After the desired articles have been placed within the base member the cover is returned to closed position and the snap fastener engaged together.
Sliding the base member along strap L, toward or away from the snap fastener element 12, a proper degree of tension may be placed upon the fastening tab for correctly holding the cover closed, and in this connection' it is to be particularly noted that the hinge connection provided between the strap and the ear 7 is such that tightening of the buckle 1 will serve to hold the cover member more tightly in position, and that the resultant strain upon the snap fastener will he one exerting practically no tendency to release said fastener.
As many changes could be made. in this construction without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claim, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description, or shown in the accompanying drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative only and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A device of the character described comprising a box body having a bottom and sides and which bottom is slotted at oppo site points, a removable cover "for said body and having a rim fitting downwardl over and encompassing the sides thereot, said rim at the opposite sides of its lower edge having integrally therewith outwardly and reoaeeo downwardly extending slotted cars, a strap to extend around the wrist and having a buckle for tightening the same upon the wrist said strap being threaded from one end inwardly through one 01 said slotted ears and then upwardly through the adjacent slot in the bottom of said body and then downwardly throi'lgh the other slot in said bottom and thence extending to said buckle, and a strap fastening tab connected with the other slotted ear of said cover and thence extending outwardly over said wrist strap and at its outer end being detachahly secured thereto for securing said cover in closed position.
lntestimony whereof I atfix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
