Be it known that I, JAMES HORRIDGE, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Bolton, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented new and useful Im provements in or Relating to Machines for Combing Cotton, Wool, and the like, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in machines for combing cotton, wool and the like and has for its object to provide improved means for lifting the top comb, the invention being illustrated in the accompanying drawing which represents part of the frame of the machine having mechanism constructed according to the present invention applied thereto.
Referring to said drawing-l represents part of the frame of the machine, 2 represents the end of the top comb arm which is mounted upon the nipper arm in the usual manner and follows the oscillating motion thereof and said arm 2 is furnished at its end with a bowl 3 and carried by the frame 1 of the machine is a bracket f and adjustably mounted upon said bracket is a bracket 1923. Serial No. 636,822.

l/Vhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a machine for combing cotton, wool and the like, means for lifting the top comb comprising a bracket, an arm adjustably mounted upon said bracket, an inclined plane carried by said arm, a bowl carried by the end of the comb arm, the arrangement being such that in the oscillation of the top comb arm the bowl thereof runs down the inclined surface of the adjustable arm and is depressed thereby thus depressing that end of the comb arm and lifting the other end thereof which carries the top comb substantially as herein set forth.
