SOL BROWN, OI NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
DISPENSING GEN AND-HANDLE THEREFOR.
Application filed May 8,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, S01. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Cans and Handles Therefor and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will en'- able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a tion.
This invention" relates to dispensing cans andparticularly to a h'andle theiefor. The primary object of the invention is to provide a handle adapted to be conveniently attached to a vending can from which liquid may be poured. In other words, the
part of this specificaidea involved is to provide a vending can with a screw or friction top, upon which a spout may be fixed and toprovide a handle which is adapted to be applied to the can so-that thecombination constitutes a pitcher or pouring vessel.
The invention is particularly applicable for use in connection with syrup or molasses or any liquid food product.
The invention will be' apprehended by reference to the following connection with the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a can to which the handle is applied.
ig. 2 is a detail perspective view of a handle detached, and
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view through the upper portion of a can and the upper end of a handle.
The can 1 is shown as in the form-of a truncated conehaving a head 2' at its upper end and a. bead 3 at its lower end, the beads being formed by top and bottom of the can to the .conical wall 4. The top of the .can is provided with a collar 5, adapted to receive a spout 6, which may be sleeved over thg neck and fastened byircap'f.
A handle is provided for the can 1 which consists of a flat strip 8, the lower end of which is formed with an offset hook membet}? and the upper end of which is formed description in' havinga the joints connecting the.

with an ofiset hook member 10. Interme. diate the ends of the strip is a curved-out spring portion 11, which spaces the intermediate portion 12 of the handle away from the body of the can.
For a portion pf its length at its upper .end, the strip lies close to the wall of the can, as indicated at 13, and there is a portion 14.. the lower end of the strip which also )gafilose to the can, the two portions 13 an 14 constitutin brace port ons for the handle'which ten to hold the" hOoksQ and 10 in intimate contact with the beads 2- and 3. The portion 11 constitutes a spring portion which permits the hook members entability of the handle as a separate article as well as in combination with the can. Thespout and the means for. securing it to the can form' the subject matter-of a separate application which I am about to file.
What I claim and ters Patent is: F
