FRE CRACKER.
, ne process :ined berny i no g the seye cracker, and to provide osiye chai-0e sepredet nined f e connection from s le into Contact with the sid charge. ther object is to Ytorni a lire cracker d tube closed at material, and a c-e near the closed J the charge in such position by a sccoiy tube also made by pressing the same int shape with one end closed and the einer i -neter or periphe y thereof of such sise to be slidably adjusted tightly Within the first tube with the closed end of' le secondary tube pressed against the rarge, and to provide longitudinal grooves alone' the opposite sides of the secondary JWithin which the two ends of a fuse are ijusted, with the loop connecting part of f 'use ends bent over the closed end oic the secondary tube and e bedded in the charge.
l invention is illustrated by the accom- .anying drawings, in which Figure l reprents a iront elevation ot Vthe secondary tube ilug; Figure Q represents a similar View e plug with the fuse adjusted; Figure resents the assembled lire cracker, and re represents the assembled lire crachi sectiobn. Figure 5 is an vieu7 of the issembled re cracker.

of constructing my tire p epere a tubular chamber or exth one end et the tube sed, eitier by compressing the enr, closure in* rrd from the edges of the end be clos 7 and more preferably by o .g the entire container from a flat niece or tough pasteboard or card board which do by pressingij the center oi' the section o@ such material by a plunger operated over a suitable opening oi the diameter ror which the outer periphery or" the tube is l' f t P b h designed until the proper length or tu e as been formed, With the closed end ot substantially its original thickness, and the sidewalls ot same er sleg' roce i, mi tube or the d' ol the contain are pre; pressed J plunger being' prom sido and the opposite sides ot the openi ten ale member being provided h to spondinn' ribs to force the sides ot the into the y ooyes of the plunger. l a proper amount or charge of e3:- plosiye into the container tube and adjust over the closed end or" the plug or secondary tube a section of ignition use rit-h the loop or central part of the fuse across the closed end of the plug` and the sides of the Jfuse or extending ends in the grooves on each side of the plug, and then insert and press the plug or secondary tube into the open end of the container till the closed end oit' the plug is pressed tightly against the charge7 with the bend of the fuse embedded in the charge for certainty of igniting the same as the :fuse is fired.
This process of assembling the 'previously prepared parts, is Very rapid, safe, the iinished product highly satisfactory. rEhe container may be 'formed of material oi" sutilcient thickness to so strongly restrain the explosive that a loud report Will be caused at the time of explosion, and may be further reinforced by any ordinary outer tubular shell into which it may be inserted to any desired position7 with the two ends ot the fuse extending therefrom for lighting.
The several parts are further specified by the numerals, as l, the secondary tube or plug in finished condition, With the oppositely positioned longitudinal grooves 2 oi suitable size for containing the ordinary ignition `fuse 3 for tirecraclers, which is bent over the closed end lof the tubular plug.
5 represents the tubular container with one closed end 6, and a charge of suitable eX- plosive 7, with bend 3 ot the fuse pressed down into the charge and the closed end of the plug member firmly pressed against the Charge. 8 represents any ordinary tubn ler body shell open at both ends into which the container may be inserted to any desired posit-ion in the shell or outer body. rlhe plug member is preferably shorter than the container, so that when the closed end of the plug' is seated upon the charge, the open end of the plug` is even with the open end of the container.
By providing the grooves along the Walls of the tubular member plug, the fuse is in no place so tightly Compressed that the lire Will become choked thereby, as frequently occurs in the ordinary methods and formation of lire Crackers, and zit the sinne time the container' tube and the plug; 1ne1nber may be so snugly adjusted the one Within the other that no loss of explosive force can ooeur bet-Ween them. The loop portion of the fuse being bent over the Closed end of the plug when inserted, assures that it will be pressed against the eharge, and' the same fired by igniting; either of the fuse ends.
Having described iny invention, l elaini l. A l'ireoraeker, With a tubular Container' with one end thereof closed by a part thereof, with a Charge of explosive therein, and
tubular plugn with one end Closed by a part thereof, and longitudinal grooves along opposite sides of the plug', and a fuse bent over the closed end of the plug and the two ends of the fuse placed in the grooves and the plug pressed into the container with the closed end of the plug sented against the charge and the bend of the fuse embedded in the charge, and the extended ends of the fuse protruding from the container, for ignition.
E2.. A ireeraeker Comprising an explosive container made from suitable material in tubular form With one end Closed by an integral part of the material, and an inner compression tube made from suitable nisiterial with one end thereof closed by an integral part of the material thereof, with a charge of explosive inside the container between the closed end thereof l and t-he elosen end of the compression member, with a fuse extending,- from the Charge of eXplosive outward between the walls of the tubular members from the charge of explosive to the open endsof the tubes.
Env testimony whereof I affix my signaA ture.
