Description

Patented Aug. 10, 1926.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
POLISHING COMPOSITION,
1T0 Drawing. Application filed March 23,1925, Serial No. 17,800, and in Germany January 21, 1925.
Inthe production of oil of roses from roses a wax-like substance is obtained as a by-product, which is sold as rose-wax. In the course of experiments for the utilization 5 of rose-wax for industrial purposes it was found that rose-wax acts similarly to coffeewax in polishing compositions for leather, linoleum, wood and the like as amea'ns for increasing the .brilliance of the polish.
Hence, rose-wax can be utilized in the polishing compositions as a substitute for coffee-wax, As \comparedwit-h coffee-wax it has certain advantages (1) It reduces the volatilization of the 1 wax solvent in the polishing compositions.
(2) An addition of rpse-wafx increases the polish on the surface in the container;
A suitable proportion of coffee-wax and 1 rose-wax in polishing compositions is, for
instance, 50 parts coffee-wax, 50 parts rosewax. It is, however, also possible to use a smaller addition of rose-wax and the cofi'ee wax may be entirely replaced by rose-wax.
The constituents of the polishing composi- 26 tion may, for instance, be used in the follow- .ing proportions by weight Parts. Montan wax 7 Carnauba wax -1 5 Ceresine 16 Aniline dyes 1 4 Oil of turpentine 68 A mixture of. coflee-wax and rose-wax half-and-half..- 1%
Rose wax, like cofi'ee wax, not only in- 3L creases the brilliancy but has the characterist'ic property not possessed by any other wax of imparting to the polishing agent special homogeneity and permits very fine sub-division of the polishing agent.. Due to 40 the great economy in the use of the polishinglagent greater brillianc is obtained.
a aving now particular y described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is 2-- 1. -A polishing composition of wax-like character for leather, linoleum, wood and the like containing as ingredients rose wax andcoflee wax. Y
2, A polishing composition of wax-like I character for leather, linoleum, wood and the like consisting of Montan and carnauba waxes, ceresine', aniline dyes, oil of turpentine, and a mixture of coffee waxand rose -wax.
3. A polishing composition as claimed'in claim 2 characterized in that the ingredientsare combined in the following proportions by weight: Montan wax 7 parts, carnauba n wax 5 parts, ceresine 16 parts, aniline dyes 4v parts, oil of turpentine68 parts, and 1 to 3 parts of cofi'ee-wax androse-wax.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
