JACOB I-I. W'ISE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
aren't CQMBINED VASE, LAMP, AND HANGER.
a u anonfiiea August a, 1925. Serial mfa'zsso.
This invention relatesto improvements in a combined vase, lamp, and hanger, and has for one of its principal objects the provision of a novel, useful, and ornamental device which pos'esses the'combined properties of a vase, alamp, and a hanger, in addition to further ornamental and attractive color effects.
One of the important objects of this invention is to provide, in a combination vase, lamp, and hanger, means for so arranging flowers, preferably artificial flowers or the like, in combination with a lamp, in a vase so that the light from the lamp will shine through the flowers, thereby producing a very'attractive effect and an unusual design.
Still another important object of this invention is to provide, in combination with a lamp and hanger, means for disposing artificial flowers or the like in a vase in which the lamp is contained so as to allow the. rays of light from the lamp to penetrate through the interstices between the flowers onto an object in the hanger, and to further intermittently and automatically interrupt the rays from the light so as to produce mottled and various color effects.
Uther and further important objects of the invention will be apparent from the disclosures in. the accompanying drawings and following specification.
The invention, in a preferred form, is illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improved combination vase, lamp, and hanger of this invention showing the device as supporting a bird cage or the like.
Figure 2 is a vertical elevation similar to Figure 1, parts being shown in section and other portions being broken away to show the construction of the vase and lamp combination.
Figure 3 is a similar vertical elevation illustrating a modification of the invention.
As shown in the drawings:
The reference numeral 1 indicates generally. the base of a lamp or the like having an upright or pedestal 2, which in turn supports a hanger element or the. like 3 of any desired artistic design, and at the juncture of the upright 2 and hanger element 3 is provided a combination vase and lamp socket 4 having therein a light globe 5 operated by a push button or the like 6, and
connected by a suitable wire 7 to a convenient source of current.
A similar combined vaseand lamp 8 is positioned at the top of the hanger element, which in turn supports a bird cage or the like 9, and it-will be observed that the lamp 5 is so positioned in the vase 7 that a plurality of flowers or the like 10 may be positioned in, around, and over the lamp so that the rays of light from the globe will filter through the flowers, thereby producing a highly ornamental and attractive effect. The vases 7 and 8 are preferably arranged to accommodate artificial flowers only, but it is evident that fresh flowers may be placed therein, suitable provision being made for water to maintain the desired degree of'freshness.
In the. modification shown in Figure 3 a goldfish bowl or the like 11 is supported in position over the combination vase and lamp, and above the light globe 5 is supported a heat operated fan 12, which rotates dueto the action of the heated air arising from the globe, thereby producing a varied color effect upon the bottom of the fishbowl, due to the different colors of the. light rays filtering through the leaves or petals of the flowers 10. This provides an additional and still more desirable and attractive color combination, especially as applied to the water in the goldfish bowl. A smoking set or similar tray is positioned at 16.
Additional ornamental effects may be obtained by the use of further lamp brackets 14, as shown in Figure 3, and the push button 6 ordinarily operates both or all of the light globes at one time.
It will be evident that herein is provided a novel, useful, and attractive form of combined flower vase, lamp, and hanger, which will constitute a desirable addition to a living room or the like, and which will furnish varied effects of light and colors particularly pleasing to the eye, in addition to the useful features thereof.
OFFECE.
I am aware that many changes may be i made and numerous details of construction varied throughout a wide range without de-' an article carried by the flower vase supported by the element, a pedestal, u flower vase providing a connection between the element and the pedestal, and an illuminating element confined on the second mentioned flower vase.
2. An article of the classdescribed including a flower vase supporting element, an article carried by the flower Vase supported by the element a pedestal, a flower Vase providing a connection between the pedestal and the element, an illuminating element confined. in the second mentioned flower vase, and circuit control means for said illuminating element.
3. An article of the class described including a supporting element, a flower vase carried by the element for the accommodation of flowers, an illuminating element confined in the Vase and adapted to be covered by the flowers, a fan carried by the illuminating element and operable by heat generating from the illuminating element and for dispersing the light rays of the illuminating element and a glass receptacle carried by the supporting element and disposed in the path of the dispersed lightrays.
In testimony whereof I aflflx my signature.
