This invention contemplates the provisionot a device designed to accommodate itseli within atank or other-suitable receptacle, inavhich clothes, dishes or other articles are adapted to be washed, and by means of whiclrthe said articlm can be elevated above the fluid in said tank and allowed to drain.

More specifically stated, the invention is in the nature of an attachment for such tank or receptacle, and embodies a foraniinated container adapted to be submerged in the water in said tank, the container being associated with means whereby it can be elevated, and supported in an elevated position to allow the articles therein to drain.

' The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.

In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure l is a view showing the tank in section and the manner in which the foraminated container is held elevated therein.

Figure 2 is a view taken at a right angle to Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a perspective View oi the holder for said container.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of the clamp and its associated parts.

Before entering into a detail description of what. is herein shown, I desire to have it understood that while the invention is primarily intended to be used for draining clothes, dishes or the like, that it can be used for various other analogous purposes, and that its general application is contemplated by the claim.

The device forming the subject matter of this invention includes a foraniinated receptacle 10 which may be constructed of wire or any suitable mesh, or from any other suit-able material having its sides and bottoms perforated. The receptacle 10 is adapted to be arranged in a holder, preferably ot' the construction illustrated in Figure 3, although the holder in itself may vary in size and design without departing from the spirit of the invention. As herein illustrated the holder is made up of two identically constructed sections, each. including a base 11 trom one end ,of which rises an arm 12 while proyec'tlng from the "opposed.

This structurein-its entirety is adapted .to be placed in a tank l7, such as a wash boiler or the li'ke,.and the articles to be washed within said tank are of course placed within the container 10, which receives the water or other fluid with which the tank is partly filled. After the articles have been properly dealt with, it is my purpose to provide means whereby the container 10 can be elevated within the tank 17 to a position above the water level, and supported in this position to allow the articles therein to properly drain.

For this purpose I make use of a cable 18 which passes beneath the base of the container holder, and trained over guide pulleys l9 journaled at the ends of said base shown. One end of this cable attached to the adjacent end of a duplex hook like element 20, the other end of which is adapted to be suspended from the top of the tank as shown in Figure l. The other end of the cable is attached to a drum 21 and adapted to be wound about and unwound theretrom to raise and lower the container 10 with relation to the tank 17. This drum is fixed on a shaft 22 which is journaled in a clamp the latter being preferably of U-shape formation but having its spaced limbs connected at an appropriate point in their length by a cross piece 2a which is adapted to repose upon the upper edge of the tank when the clamp is associated therewith. One of these limbs carries a tightening screw 25, which is adapted to engage the tank to hold the clamp fixed relatively thereto. The shaft 22 is equipped with a crank handle 26 7 through the instrumentality of which the shaft can be rotated. Also fixed to the shaft 22 is a ratchet wheel 27 while pivoted upon the clamp as at 28 is a pawl 29 designed to cooperate with the ratchet wheel 27 to prevent retrograde movement of the shaft as will be readily understood. Manifestly by reason of this construction it will be noted that when the shaft is turned in one direction and the cable 18 wound about the drum 21,

' the container will be elevated within the tank 17, and the pawl and ratchet mechanism utilized to support the container in this position to allow the articles therein to drain. In orderto lower the container within the tank, it is only necessary to throw the pawl 29 to an inactive position, that is out of engagement from the ratchet 27, whereupon the container will gravitate within the tank incidentally unwinding the cable from the dru1n21.

For the purpose of guiding and steadying the container while being elevated or lowered with relation to the tank 17, 1 pros vide one of the arms of the holder with a longitudinal slot 30, this garm being arranged in juxtaposition with the clamp 23, so that the pin. 31 projecting from said shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what isvclaimed.

l'Vhat-I claim is:

A receptacle holder of the character described comprising two identically constructed sections, each including a base, an arm rising from the outer end thereof, extensions projecting from the opposite sides of the base, arms rising from said extensions and arranged in right angular relation to the first mentioned arms, the base portions of the respective sections being overlapped and slidably associated, and a keyhole slot in the first mentioned arm of one of said sections.
