UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE.
HARVE A. KUNS, OF OAKLAND. CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO VIOLA R. KUNS, OF OAK- LAND, CALIFORNIA.
SHOE DA'UBER.
Application filed November 28, 1924. Serial No. 752,575.
My invention relates to a shoe dauber, in which the polishing material in the form of a paste is pressed from a collapsible container through a porous daubing pad.
My invention is applicable to the usual type of collapsible tube having a threaded stem which ordinarily serves to receive a cap.
In order to adapt my invention to containers now on the market, I provide a special cap having internal screw threads to engage the threaded cap stem of the ordinary collapsible tube.
My invention will be more clearly understood from the accompanying specification and drawing in which the single figure shows an embodiment of my invention, the upper part being in section.
The ordinary collapsible tube is indicated at 20, and has the usual conical head 21 with screw threaded stem 22, to receive the usual closure cap. I substitute for this cap the applicator-socket 18 having a collar 23 screw-threaded to engage the threads of the stem 22, and with a top plate 24 extending across the top of the stem 22. This has an upstanding neck 25 with an aperture 26 registering with the opening in the stem. I preferably provide a forwardly extending rim 27, and also a downwardly extending skirt 28 from the top plate 24. The lower end of the skirt bears against the head 21. A daubing pad or filler 30, preferably of felt, is inserted within the rim 27, covering the aperture 26. The pad is glued or otherwise secured to the plate 2 L and to rim 27 and is of sufficient thickness to protrude beyond the rim.
In operation, the applicator is screwed onto the stem of the tube, and the tube is squeezed or rolled in the ordinary manner, which presses the filling liquid or paste through the aperture 26 and causes it to exude through the, porous pad 30. The pad is rubbed over the shoes or other article in the ordinary manner.
My invention may be adapted to many uses other than daubing or dyeing shoes, and may also be altered in construction provided such alterations do not depart from the spirit of my invention as defined in the claim.
Having described my invention, I claim:
A shoe dauber, comprising a collapsible container, provided at one end with an applicator socket, said socket comprising a plate having an opening therethrough in communication with the interior of said container, and having a forwardly extending peripheral rim concentric with said opening, and a felt sheet filler within and secured to said socket, and projecting beyond the rim, the felt sheet covering the opening through the plate, for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
