JOSE A. DOMINGUEZ, 0F MAYAGUEZ, IPORTO RICO.
TELEPHONE-RECEIVER PROTECTOR.
Application filed April 8, 1924, Serial No. 705,134. Renewed March 18, 1926.
This invention relates to a device for covering the ear piece of a telephone receiver, the general object of the invention being to provide an easily removable member for preventing transmission of contagious diseases from the use of the telephone, a new protector being used by each person usin the phone.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the sev eral parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying.
drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view of the protector itself.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through the protector.
Figure 3 is a view showing the protector on the receiver of a telephone.
As shown in these views, the protector 1 is of substantially cup shape so that it can be placed over the ear portion of a telephone receiver A so as to prevent the car part from coming in contact with the ear of the user. The protector is provided with a hole 2 with slits 3 radiating from the hole so that the device will not interfere with the passage of the sound waves to the ear. The device is formed of strong paraflined white paper which is crimped and pressed into the proper shape so that it will frictionally engage the ear part of the receiver when pressed upon the same. Thus the device will remain on the receiver until forct bly removed therefrom. The protectors are designed to be used but once so that each only strengthens the body but acts to cause it to more firmly grip the part to which it is applied and this part also acts to form a shoulder which can be engaged by the fingers in removing the device from the telephone receiver.
While thedevice is shown as applied to a telephone receiver it will of course be und erstood that it can be used on similar devices, such as on the ear phones of radio outfits.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is l. A protector of the class described comprising a substantially cup-shaped member having a hole in its central part with slits radiating from the hole.
2. A protector of the class described comprising a substantially cup-shaped member formed of strong parafiined white paper, crimped and shaped to snugly engage the ear part of a telephone receiver and having a hole in its central part with slits radiating from the hole.
JOSE A. DOMINGUEZ.
