'This invention relates to improvements in garment protectors and has for an object I the provision of a foldable and unfoldable bag-like protector which may be arranged over a' garment so as to entirely enclose the same without danger of wrinkling the garment as frequently occurs when the latter is inserted in the end of a bag.

Another objectof the invention is the provision of a protector of the above character which is formed from a single piece of material and constructed so as to afford thorough protection to the garment or garments enclosed.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illus-, trated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings Figure 1 is an elevation of the invention shown suspended by a garment hanger.

Figure 3 is a transverse section.

Figure 4 is a. plan view of the blank from which the protector is formed.

Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the protector which is preferably formed from a single sheet of paper cut so as to provide a back 10 and an inner front flap 11 and an outer front flap 12 the said flaps extending from opposite longitudinal edges of the back 10 and llgeing preferably of the same size as the ack.

Extending from the upper edge of the back 10 is a top flap 13 which is adapted to be folded over andwhich is provided ontthe line of fold with an opening 14. The fla 13 is provided with an arcuate slot 15 an extending from this slot to the opening 14 is a slot 16. Thus; oppositely located foldable tongues 17 are provided. The opposite or lower edge of the back 10-is provided with a bottom flap '18.

A garment hanger 19 is adapted to have its hook end inserted through the arcuate slot 15 so that the shank of the hook may be passed through the slot 16 and extend through the opening 14 with the hanger proper positioned against the back 10 so that articles of clothing may be arranged upon the hanger. The inner flap 11 is then folded over upon the article or articles and the outer flap 12 folded over upon the inper flap, the said inner and outer flaps be-' 1ng preferably provided with substantially seml-circular cut out portions 20' and 21 respectively. The lower flap 18 may then be folded over the front flap and the upper flap likewise folded over the front flap, the tongues 17 being folded in a like manner.

The flaps 13 and 18 are detachably secured in folded position and for this pur-- pose each of the said flaps has secured thereto a cord 22 which is adapted to be wound over buttons 23 secured to the outer face of the outer front flap. This provides means whereby a garment may be enfolded within the protector without danger of creasing or rumpling the garment as frequently occurs when the latter is inserted within the top of a bag. By raising thetong'ues 17 the character of the article withirrthe protector may be readily ascertained without the necessity of opening the protector. The protector is of a character which will permit of its re-use so that it is useful for the protection of garments for either a short or for an indefinite period. It may be made of any suitable material so as to afiord protection from dust, dirt or insects.

The invention 1s susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and IIllIlOl details of construct-ion and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention what is claimed is 1. A garment protector comprising a back, a foldable top flap extending from one edge thereof and having an opening for the passage of the hook of a garment hanger, an inner foldable front flap extending from oneside edge of the back, an outer foldable front flap extending along the opposite side edge of the back. a bottom flap extending from the lower edge of the back and foldable over the outer front flap, detachable means for securing the top and bottom flaps to the outer front flap and foldable wings included in the top flap and arranged upon 0 posite sides of the hanger hook opening, w ereby the contents of the protector may be inspected without opening the topfiap.

A garment protector com rising a bag, a foldable top flap extending om one edge thereof and having an opening for the passage of the hook of a garment hanger, an inner foldable frontflap extending from one side edge of the back, an outer foldableable over the outer front flap, detachable means for securing the top and bottom flaps to the outer front flap and said top flap hav ing a slit extending from the hook opening 10 and slits extending from the outer end of the first mentioned slit to the juncture of the back .and flap to provide a relatively large wing closed opening within the top flap.
