v The invention relates to a hand grip for and'has for its main ob ect the provision of agrip attachable to ding the handle of the golf club or the like. Another object is the provision of a grip having a portion engageable over a finger of aplay'ers-hand and a portion engageable with the'ha-ndle and arranged to retain-the handle-against the finger. With these aswell as other objects in view the invention resides in the novel features of construction as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hand grip embodying my invention;
--1"is'-thebody of the hand Figures '2 and 3 are respectively a perective view and a side elevation of the grip s sliown in position.
grip for the handle of a golf club or the like. This body preferably has a thickness which gradually increases from one end to the other and is provided with the transverse openings 2 and 3 adjacent to each otherand located in the end portion of greatest thickness, the openings being respectively enga eable over the third. and fourth fingers of t e players left hand so'that the body lies between the second and third joints of these fingers. The body 1 is also provided with the curved terminal portion 4 at the opposite end, this portion extending approximately parallel to the axes. of the openings and having a curvature corresponding approximately to that of the handle of the golf club. The portion of the body forming the outer walls of the openings 2 and 3 is of sufiicient extent to assist in maintainl glthe body substantially at right angles to t e'portions of the fingers he arrangement being suchengaged thereby,- that the curved portion of the body engages the handle of the golf club and-retains the same against the fingers of a layers left hand andprevents this hand e from resting in the pa m of the hand.
To assist in holding the hand and particularl the fingers in their proper positions w 'Ie the player is learning, I have provided the thong 5 which is secured to the fin end portion of greatest thickness of the body 1 and extends over the back of the hand and is connected by suitable resihent means such as the coil springhfi to the strap 7 which is fastened around t e wrist. The arrangement is such that the portions of the assisting in properlypthe hand' 7 a finger of a third and fourth fingers between the second and third' joints will. be maintained more nearly in alignment with the back of so that the correct grip upon the club handle is assured.
From theabove description it will be readily seen that I have providedanovel and simple handgrip-for'the' handle of a golf club or the like which provides for retaining the handle against the fingers. It will also be seen that my grip is readily attachable to a players hand and is so shaped that it will cause no inconvenience. Furthermore, it will be seen that I have provided an auxiliary means for assisting a beginner in holding his hand int-he correct position for gripping the club handle.
What I claim. as my invention is:
- '1. A hand grip for a golf club or the like comprising. a member attachable to a players hand and having a portion spaced fromthe palm of the hand and engageable with the handle to retain the sam'e'against the fingers'of the hand.
2. A hand grip for a golf clubor the like comprising a member engageable over players hand and having a portion. spaced from the palm of the hand and engageable with the handle to retain the same against the finger. a A hand gripfor a golf club or the like comprising a body having a'transverse o enln therein rovidin for en a ement p b b b of the body over a finger of a players hand portion upon the body -engage-.
and a curved I able with the hand and arranged to reta n the same against the fing 4 I comprising a ho y ing therein providing for engagement of the body over a finger of a players hand, a curved portion upon the b0 y engageable with the handle and arranged to retain the same against the finger and-means for o 'sitioning the body to extend substantial y at right angles gaged.
4. A hand gri for a golf club or the l'ke having a transverse opento the portion of the finger en- 5; A hand grip for a golf club or the like comprising a member engageable over a ger of a players hand and adapted to'lie between the second and third j oints of the er, a portion upon' the member engageablg with the handle and arranged to retain the same againstthe finger, and means for ieldably holding the portion ef the finger between thesecond an'dthird oints 1n approximate alignment with the back of the hand.
6. A hand grip-'for a golf club or the like- -comprising a substantial y' rigid member engageable over a finger of a players hand and.
having a portion extending transversely of the finger and detachably engageable with the handle to retain the same against the finger. 1
8. A hand-grip for a golficlub or the like comprising a member normally carried by a players hand during the use of the grip and arranged to detachably engage the handle and retain the same against the fingers of the hand.
9. A handgrip for a golf club or the like comprising a silbstantially rigid member en-= gageable with a finger of a players hand and having a portion detachably engageable with the handle to hold the same away from the palm of the hand.
10. A hand grip of openings therein providin for engagement of the body over a plum ity of fingers of a players hand and a relatively wide portion upon the body curved to engage the handle and arranged to hold the same away from the palm of the hand.
11. A hand grip for a golf club or the like comprising a. body greater at one end than the'other and having a plurality of transverse openings therein adjacent to the end of greater thickness providing for engagement of the body over a plurality of fingers of a players hand, and a relatively wide eurved terminal portion upon the body engageable with the handle and arranged to retain the same against the fingers.
1n testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
