Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WILLIAM H. BRIOKETT, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLOCK-MOVEMENT HOLDERS.l
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1583619, dated January 12, 1875; application filed i September 15, 1874.
To all whom it may concer/n:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. BRIGKETT,
` of Boston, in the county of Suffolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Devices for Holding Glock-Movements, of which the following is a description sufcientl y full, clear, and exact to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side elevation, showing my improvement.
My invention relates more especially to that class of mechanical devices which are designed for holding or supporting the movements of French clocks while being set up and regulated; and consists .in a novel construction and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed, by which a simpler, cheaper, and more effective device of this character is produced than is now in ordinary use.
The eXtreme simplicity of my improvement renders an elaborate description superfluous.
In the drawing, a, is a foot-piece, which is provided with the hollow standard or upright w and hexagonal frame b. The sides z z of the frame form rundlets or Ways, on which the angular cross-head or slide o moves vertically. The screw d, which extends downward into the standard x, is made fast in the cross-head c, and provided with the wheel-nut e, which rests upon the standard m.
The clock-movement to be set up or timed is placed in the space K, between the crosshead c and top of the frame'b, and"will be grasped and held by turning the wheel e, in a manner which will be readily obvious to all conversant with such matters without a more explicit description.
Near the top of the ways z z are notches or apertures m m, to enable the cross-head to be readily inserted when the frame b and ways are integral, or cast in one piece.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim isl. The improved device for holding clocklnovements described, the same consisting of the foot-piece a, hollow standard x, frame b, screw d, and nut e, combined to operate substantially as specied. Y
2. In the improved device for holding clockmovements described, the notches m m, as and for the purpose set forth and described.
WILLIAMl H. BRIOKETT. Witnesses H. E. METCALF, C. A. SHAW.
