the top members of the bridges 22 and 19. Longitudinal bars 30, which may be angle members, are held by the securing elements 29 on the bridges 19 and 22 and are disposed in close relation to the inner edges of the top members 12 of the mold.
Longitudinal reinforcing rods 31 are l0- cated within the mold. The rods 31 pass through crossed transverse bars 32. The lower ends of the bars 32 are engaged with the sides 7 and rest on the cleats 5. Tlre upper ends of the crossed transverse bars 32 abut against the longitudinal bars 30 of the frame 18. One of the longitudinal reinforcing rods 31 passes through the bars 32 at their' place of crossing. That rod and the cross bars 32 are held together releasably but securely by separable clamps 33. The ends of horizontal ties 34 are connjected to the lowermost reinforcing rods 31. Securing elements 35, such as hook bolts, are engaged at their lower ends with the ties 34. The securing elements 35 pass upwardly through the bridges 22 and through the bars 20 ofthe frame 18. Brackets 36 are mounted at their inner ends on the reinforcing rods 31 which connect thle cross bars 32 at their place of crossing.
Each bracket 36 is sustainedby a brace 37 extended downwardly to one of the bars 32. The openings 17 in the top of the mold are adapted for the reception of brackets 36 and the braces 37.
In. practical operation, ythe movable top sections 15 are opened and the mold is filled with concrete, as shown at 38. The nuts on the upper ends of the securing elements or hook bolts 35 are removed, and the bolts 28 are released from the feet 24 of the bridges 22. Thereupon the fram-e 18 may be removed. The ends l0, the sides 7, and the parts 8, 12 and 15 of the mold may be removed, either together or separately. The product, supported by the member 4 may be lifted out of the mold, through the instrumentality'of the eyes 71 on the ends of the member 4a. The rods 31, the barsl 32, the ties 34 and the securing elements or hook bolts 35 remain in the product, the upper ends of the hook bolts being exposed, to serve as an attaching' means for rail chair or the like. The brackets 36 project laterally from the finished product and constitute a means whereby one stringer, through the instrumentality of any suitable connecting means (not shown), may be united to another stringer.
In Figure 4, the base 39 is of the form her-einbefore described, the stringere appearing at 40. The base 39 has a marginal rib 41 carrying suspension devices 42. The body of the mold comprises endsI 43 and sides 44 held in place by the rib 41. The top sections 45 have suspension devices 100 and are secured to the sides 44. The frame, corresponding to the frame 18 is of the kind hereinbefore described, and is denoted by the numeral 46. The hook bolts are shown at 47, the ties at 48, the crossed bars at 49 and the bracket at 51. One of the top members 45 has a recess 53 receiving the outer end of the bracket 51. The bracket does not project entirely through the top member, as does the corresponding bracket 36 in Figurle 2. It will be understood that th-e form shown in Figure 4 includes the bridge 19, hereinbefore described.
The operation of the device delineated in Figure 4 does not differ materially from the operation of the form shown in Figure 2, aside from the fact that the form shown in F igure'4 does not have the movable top sections 15 of Figure 2.
In Figure 7, the base 54 of the` mold is constructed as hereinbefore described and is supported on stringers 55. The base has a marginal rib 56 provided with suspension devices 57. Tlte ends of the body of the mold are shown at 58, and the sides at 59, these parts being received within the ribs 56 and being supported on the plate 54. "There are suspension devices 101 on thesides 59. The frame is denoted by the numeral 61 and its bridges cooperating with thfe hook bolts 62. The ties are shown at 63,`the longitudinal reinforcing rods at64, the crossed bars at 65, the bracket at 66 and the brace at 67. One of the side members 59 is provided with a recess 68 for the reception of the bracket 66. It will be understood that the form shown in Figure 7 is' provided wit-h the end bridges 19 hereinbefore described.
hGrenlerally stated, the device is so constructed that the concrete'stringers may be formed advantageously either in the shop or on the right-ofway. The mold may be taken down readily after the concrete Stringer has set, and the stringer, when completed, will be adequately reinforced.
What is claimed is 1. In a device of the class described, a mold including a base; a body comprising sides and ends supported on the base; a frame extended between the ends and located betwelen the sides; means for securing the frame releasably to the sides; pairs of crossed members engaged at their lower ends with the sides and cooperating at their upper ends with the frame, to brace the mold; ties connecting the crossed members of the pairs adjacent to their lower ends; and securing devices forming a rel-easable connection between the ties and the frame.
