To all whom it may concern lie it known that'we, illAlitlAlU-LT llr'ssnrn, BENNETT and HARRY RUSSELL, citizens of the United States, residing: at Gary, in the county of Lake and'State of Indiana, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in a Hygienic .iVatcr Receptacle, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hygienic 'atcr receptacles and has for its principal object to provide .ice comp: rtment passing through the opening.

A further object of the invention is to provide a receptacleot the above mentioned character, wherein the same is of such a construction as to have the lower portion of the drinking compartment submerged in. the ice compartment. 7

A further object is to provide a receptacle ot the above mentioned character, which is simple in construction, inexpensive, strong: and durable and furthermore adapted for the purposes for which it is designated.

Other objects and advantages of this invcntion will become apparent during the course of the following; description.

In the drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of oninvention, the numeral 1 designates a Water pitcher which is of the well known construction and may be formedof any desirable material preferably glass and the same is provided with the usual pouring spout 2, and the handle 3. Arranged in the pitcher is the substantially cup-shaped dividing wall & the upper edge of which is connected to the intermediate portion of the pitcher and at a point ap proximately adjacent the bottom of the spout 2 in the manner clearlysl-lown in Figare l.

Thecup shaped dividin wall 4: is molded with the pitcher and the bottom of the cup shaped dividing wall terminates at a point adjacent the bottom of the pitcher in the manner also clearly shown in Figure 1. This construction provides an upper compartment 5 which forms a water companment while the bottom of the pitcher around the cup shaped dividing wall 4 provides an ice compartment 6.

The ice compartment (5 extends around the lower portion of the water compartment and for the purpose of filling the ice compartment we provide the pitcher 1 with a suitable opening in the rear portion thereof and a stopper such as is shown at 7 is adapted to be received in said opening; for keeping the same closed. A. rubber gasket shown at 8 is carried by the stopper for cooperation with the opening provided in the rear intermediate portion of the pitcher whereby a. water tight joint, is provided so as to prevent any possibility of the water formed in the ice compartment by the melting of the ice from leaking therethrough.

In Figure 2 of the drawing a drinking glass such as illustrated at 9 is shown and the same is also provided with a substantially cup shaped dividing wall 10 which extends from the intermediate portion of the glass to a point adjacent the bottom of the same. The cup shaped dividing wall 10 provides an upper Water compartment 11 and a lowor ice compartment 12, the latter extending around the lower portion of the water conipartment in the manner shown and as heretofore more fully described. The ice compartment 12 is also provided with an opening 13 for the reception or a stopper 14, similar to the stopper hot 15 is associated "with the stopper for cooperation with the opening 13 whereby a water tight joint is provided.

It will thus be seen from the foregoing 7, and a rubber gas description, that a receptacle has vided wherein the Water coin artment is adapted to be submerged in t e ice compartment so that the water Will at all times be kept cold and in a sanitary condition pre venting the contamination of the Water which is usualy caused by ice being placed in the Water! In the present invention the ice does not come in contact With the water but extends completely around the bottom of the water compartment in the manner as is obvious from the construction and do soription above set forth.

While we have shown the preferred em' bodiment of our invention, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention and claim.
