NOAH SAMUEL MIZELL, OF BARTOW, FLORIDA.
TOOL.
Application filed October 26, 1925. Serial No. 64,987.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NOAH S. MIZELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bartow, in the county of Polk and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tools, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention has reference to a tool especially adapted for miners and blasters use; and the object of the invention is to provide a tool embodying all of the necessary implements for cutting and slitting a fuse as well as attaching the caps to fuses and inserting the capped fuse in a cartridge.
The drawings illustrate a satisfactory embodiment of the improvement and where- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improvement.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a sectional view 44 of Figure l.
V Figure 5 is a sectional 5-5 of Figure 1.
Figure 6 is a sectional 6-6 of Figure 1.
Figure 7 is a sectional 7-7 of Figure 1.
Figure 8 is a sectional 8-8 of Figure 1.
Figure 9 is a sectional 9-4) of Figure 1.
Figure 10 is a sectional view on 10-10 of Fi re 1.
As disclosed by the drawings my improvement comprises two handle members 1 and 2, respectively. The handle members, at a suitable point throughout their length, have their confronting faces depressed and these depressed portions are disposed in lapping relation and pivotally secured, as at 3. Outward of the pivot the handle members merge into jaws 4 and 5, the said jaws being disposed at an angle with respect to the handles. From the pivot 3 the handle member 1, which is round in cross section,
the line on the line on the line View on the line view on the line view on the line view on the line View on the line the line is gradually reduced, which is true with respect to the handle member 2, although the outer end of the handle member 2 is of a greater circumference than that of the handle member 1. These handles may be successfully employed for tamping. The jaw 4, at a suitable distance from the pivot- 3, has its inner face formed with a rounded transversely arranged concavity 6, and inserted in the confronting face of the jaw 5 opposite the said concavity 6 there is a erably removably inserted in the jaw 4. i
The jaw 5 has its inner face, opposite the knife or cutting blade 9, provided with a longitudinal groove 10. When the fuse is inserted in this groove and when the handles 1 and 2 are brought together, the fuse will be slitted by the cutting blade 9.
The simplicity and advantages of my improvement will be apparent to those skilled in the art to which such inventions relate when the foregoing description has been carefully read in connection with the accom panying drawings.
Having described the invention, I claim A tool for the purpose set forth comprising two handle members having their confronting faces reduced at points throughout the length thereof and said reduced portions being disposed in lapping relation and pivotally connected, said handles being round in cross section and gradually reduced in size from their pivoted to their outer ends, each of said handles merging, beyond their pivots, into jaws which are arranged angularly with respect to the handles, the inner faces of the jaws being straight, said jaws approximately in the center thereof having transversely arranged aligning semi-circular. depressions, and one of the jaws inward of the said depression thereof having a rounded concavity, the opposite jaw having a knife blade to be received in the concavity, said last mentioned jaw having a slot entering from the outer end thereof and the first mentioned jaw having its inner face provided with a removable blade to be received in the mentioned slot, all as and for the purpose set 10 forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
NOAH SAMUEL MIZELL.
