In order to illustrate the application of this invention, a cui'b box 4 isshown whichk is of standard construction and includes a base 5 having' upstanding tapering ribs (i on theopposite sides thereof; Also, a supply pipe 7 of usual construction is arinnlgedV through the curbbox shown inF 1g. l and is equipped with a standard type of cook.
T he curb box per se consists of a supporting member or base 8 of substantially rectangular configuration with portions` of two opposite sides thereof extended to provide ribs 9 which serve to yreinforce and facilitate anchoring of the member. Upstanding on the member 8 isa rectangular box 10 which pfly'pipe 7 Which-latter is adapted to vseat but as a further means to augment retenis ei'ilart'fgedl at diametri'c'allyoppositepoints to provide su'p'poi'itin'g"'lugs '11. vThe v upper faces oit-these lugs are grooved indicated at `l2 tocoinpli'ri'ei'i't th'esh'a'pe of the 'sup in the' groo'ved 'faces of Vsaid lugs. It is to be 'understood thatvarious changes may be made in this device especially in the details ot construction, proportion and arrangement o'f parts Without departing from the spirit. and scope of the invention as covered in the claims appended hereto.
Vhat is claimed is z- 1. A curb box and coelsupport including' a supporting member engageable beneath the cock of a supply pipe and adapted for the reception of a curb box, and means forming a part of the supporting member to ,prevent longitudinal displacementy of the curb box from the latter.I
