T0 all whom it may concerm Be it known that I, HARRY PxY'roN, a citizen of the United States, resid ng at Providence, in the county of Providence andState of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Chains, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved constructionof chain or bracelet; and has for its object to provide a bracelet comprising a series of sheet metal, hollow, boxshaped links loosely-connected by loop- .shaped links. I

A further object of the invent on s .to form the box-shaped links of sheet metal having side andend walls with extend ng portions, which .portions are folded inwardly to form a bottom wall for the box, the adjacent walls of-the adjacent box links in the chain are provided with slots through which the loop link extends'to loosely con- I nect these walls of these links together.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims. 7

Figure 2 is a perspective view of a blank cut from sheet stock adapted to be folded into box-shape form from which the links of the chain are-formed.

Figure 3 shows this blank as folded into box-shapeand showing the extending end portions of both the side and end wallsbefore they are foldedinwardly toward each other to form the bottom of the box.

Figure 5 shows these loop links as positioned on a partly folded box link, the extending wall ends of the link extending through the loop and ready to be folded inwardly thereover.

It is foundin the practical construction of chain or bracelet structures of this char acter particularly where the boxes are elongated and each to provide a setting for more than one gem, of advantage to form the connecting loop link ofa width less than that of thebox link so as not'to extend to the sides thereof, to: render these connecting loop links lessconspicuous and to further render these loop links less 0on SPICHOHS, I have provided extensions on the side walls of the box links, and have folded these, extending portions inwar ly,

toward each other to cooperate with inwardly-folded "extensions on the end walls thereof, to provide a substantially, closed bottom portion to the box link, which closed bottom portion also serves to render the bracelet much more sightly from its under side and also provides a broad and smooth bearing surface on the arm of the wearer,

In this particular type of bracelet, I'proferably swage inwardly the top Wall of'tl'ie box link to provide a pluralityof eonicallyshaped seats 18 for the reception of the gems 1.9 to be set therein, and have provided bendable lugs 20 raised from this top all about the setting recess to be bent over the edges of the gems to firmly retain them'in their seats.
