MIXER.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM J. STONESI- FER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Keymar, in the county of Carroll and State of -Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Mixers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mixing machine, the general object of the invention being toprovide meansfor mixing molasses or the like with chopped material and to convey the mixture to a point. where it can be bagged or otherwise handled.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for raising the molasses container to a high point so that it can be made to flow into the mixing device by gravity and also to provide means for heating the molasses so thatit will flow easily.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or correspo'ndin parts throughout the. several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of the invention with parts broken away.

In" these views 1 indicates a tower which is provided with the platform 2 for holding the barrel 3 or other container for the molasses or other material to be mixed with the feed. A tank 4: is located below said platform and has its inlet 5 positioned so that it can receive the molasses passing from the faucet 6 in the barrel. This tank is provided with a water jacket 7, the water in which can be heated by a lamp 8 which is placed in the casing 10 below the jacket.
This casing is provided with a flue 11 and with a damper 12 and a door 13. A fuel tank 14 is connected with the reservoir of the lamp by the pipe 15 which contains the valve 16. A mixing casing 17 is supported by'the tower below the before mentioned parts, 'said casing being of considerable length and inclinedly arranged. Its lower end is provided with'an opening 18 which is so disposed that chopped material from a chopper will drop through the same intothe lower part of the casing. This 0 enin is provided with guides 19 and a per orate pipe 20 is arranged over the opening and is connected with the tank by the pipe 21 which contains the valve 22. Thus the molasses from the tank will be delivered to the material in the lower part of the casing through the perforations in the pipe 20. A shaft 23 is rotatably mounted in the casing and at its lower end it carries a bevel gear 24 which may be placed in engagement with a gear on the chopper so that the shaft will be rotated from the chopper. The lower part of the shaft carries the fingers 25 and the paddles 26 for mixing the chopped material with the molasses and for causing it to pass u wardly into the smaller part of the casing 1 .ThlS small part of the casing contains the spiral conveyor 27 which is formed of the screw parts 28 placed on the square part pf the.
shaft and the straps 29 which have their ends connected with the screw parts 28 so as to form a spiral-conveyor formed in part of solid parts and open parts so that the mixed material will be fed upwardly through the casing and at the same time mixed together.
I also provide means for lifting the barrel to its platform. Such means consists of a foldable inclined track, shown at 30, and
the cables 31 which are wound as at 32 on I are removed and then the track is folded to the position shown in dotted lines in Figure 6 and full lines in Figure l.
vAfter the barrel has been lifted the braces From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided simple means for mixing molasses and the like'with other material.- The heating of the molasses not only insures its flow but also improves its mixing qualities. The conveyor means also act to mix the material and after it leaves the conveyor the mixed material can be bagged or otherwise handled. I
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will'be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of theappended claims.
What I claim is v 1. A device of the class described comprising an elevated structure, a platform thereon for holding a container, a tank below the platform for receiving material from the container, a jacket around the tank adapted to contain a liquid, an inclined conveyor casing below the tank, an opening in the the lower part thereof for receiving chopped lower part thereof for receiving chopped material, a pipe for leading material from the tank into the lower part of the conveyor casing, a shaft passing through the conveyor casing and beaters and conveyor parts on the shaft for mixing: and conveying the materials.
2. A device of the class described comprising an elevated structure, a platform thereon for holding a container, a tank below the platform for receiving, material from the container, a jacket around the tank adapted to contain a liquid, an inclined conveyor casing below the tank, an openlng in material, a pipe for leading'material rom the tank into the lower part of the conveyor casing, a shaft passing through the conveyor casing and heaters and conveyor parts on the shaft for mixing and conveying the materials, said conveyor being composed of solid parts and open parts.
