To all whom 2'25 may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK W'iLLIAM 'ioa'rnniL, of the village of Raymond, in the Province of Alberta, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Auxiliary Air Inlets, of which the following is the specification.
My invention relates to improvements in gasoline savers for internal combustion engines, particularly applicable to automobile engines and the object of the invention is to devise a simple and effective gasoline saver that will be controlled by the spark. lever.
My invention consists of a gasoline saver constructed and arranged substantially as hereinafter more particularly described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

Fig. 2 is a plan view showing the valve of my device connected to the-spark rod.

1 is the intake manifoldof the engine. 2 is the'carburetor. 3 is the exhaust manifold. 4. is a stove adapted to be situated on the exhaust manifold. 5 is the valve casing suitablv secured to the stove 4 by means of the hollow screw plug 6, said valve casing having a substantially cylindrical horizontally disposed interior 7, said valve having a cutaway portion 9 and provided with an en larged head 10 situated exteriorly of the casing 5, said head being provided with an outwardly extending pin 11 adapted to engage the pin 12 extending outwardly from such casing. 15 being inserted between the carburetor 2 and the intake manifold 1. 18 is a pipe communicating at its top with the vent 14 in the valve casing and at its lower end, through the vent 19, with the hollow interior 16 of the mixer.
20 is a lever secured to the free end of the valve spindle 8. 21 is a rod pivotally connected at one end to the lever 20 and the other end having a turned over portion 22 adapted to be inserted into a slot 23 in the member 24, said member 24 having a hookshaped lower end 25 adapted to freely extend around the rod 21. The member 24.is suitably secured to the spark lever rod 27 and 28 is a spring secured at one end to the upper end of the member 24 and'at the lower end to the upper end of the rod 21.
When the engine is started the spark is usually retarded, and when the spark lever is turned into the retarded position the spark lever rod 27 will be turned through the medium of the rod 21 and the lever 20, the valve spindle 8 will be turned so that the cut-away portion will be clear of the vents 13 and 14 thus closing the valve. When the spark lever is advanced the lever 24 will push on the rod 21, and" thus through the medium of thelever 20, turn the valve 8 so that the cut-away portion will establish communicationbetween the vents 13 and 14.
When this occurs the air from the stove 4 will pass up through the hollow screw plug 6, through the vent 13, out-away portion 9, vent 14, through the pipe 18 into the mixer 17 and from thence through into the manifold where it will supply additional or auxiliary air to the mixture.
The pin 12 engagingthe pin 11 on the head 10 of the valve will limit the turning of such valve.
The connection shown in Figure 2 be tween the rod 21 and the lever 24 is to provide a flexible connection rod so that should the spark lever be advanced or retarded too much it will afford? a flexible connection bebetween the rod 21 and the lever 24 and thus prevent any damage being done thereto.
