To all whom t may concern; Be it known that l, FREDERICK W. REN- ]WICK, 'a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Camden, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements" in Wireless-Receiving-Apparatus Cabinets, of which the following is a specii lication.
'Thisjnventon relates to new and' useful y improvements rrin. wireless receiving apparatus cabinets.
The primary provide a cabinet ,oi the above object of the inventionis to mentioned type which is, adapted for beingf held orsup-I ported in contact with a vertically extending surface.
i i rA'furthervolniect of the invention is to. promed f purpose unit to be videa cabinet which is suitable for beingy supported by a p'eceV otmovablefurniture.
A 'still-further Vobiect of the invention is to providea cabinet `for a wireless' receiving apparatus having a rein'otefcontrol unit, as set forth-in the application for remote control .unit for wireless receiving,r apparatus, by F, W. 'Renwiclg July 19, 1924, Serial cabinet being; especially adapted to be se- 'cured to a talking mac ine cabinet, for the of permitting the remote control housed within the latter cabinet when not inuse.
' Another object of the invention isto provide a cabinet of the above mentioned type which is especially adapted for supporting the various instrumentalitiesnecessarily employed -for constitutinga receiving set and Vfor permitting read y access to behad to certain portions of the set.
Other obiects and advantages of the invention will be apparent 'during the course of the'following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numeralspare employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
lFigure 1 illustrates a perspective View of the wireless receiving apparatus cabinet embodying this invention properly mounted upon a talking,r machine cabinet and further illustratesthe, manner of arranging the instrumentalities employed for constituting a 'receiving set,
Figure 2 is a fragmentary view showinga portion of the talking machine cabnetm .to above, house within the apparatus cabinet,
thesaid wireless apparatus section with the wireless receiving apparatus cabinet shown attached thereto in full lines and with the remote control unit, referred talking machine cabinet,
Figure 3 illustrates a eide elevational view of the 'wireless receiving apparatus caliiinet' embodying; this invention and further illustrates the manner ot4I attaching; the cabinet to a talking machine cabinet,
ori'
Figure 4 illustrates a 'fragmentary frontV elevational view oi the Wireless 'receiving iFigure 5 'illustrates e longitudinal accn tional view of the rneaua employed for at taching the wireless receiving apparatus cabinet to a piece et furniture, and
Figure 6 illustrates a fragmentary elevational View of the bracket `elemein: carried by. the Wireless receiving apparatus cabinetr ln the drawings, wherein tor the purpose of illustration yis shown a preferred embodi ment of this invention, the numeral 5 desi@ natos vthe wireless receiving* apparatus cabinet in its entirety. This cabinet inw ciudes a bottom wall 6, sidewalls 7 and t3, a rear wall 9 and a top Wall 10 which in cludes a hingedly mounted door or section 1i. The front et the cabinet 5 is intended to ne closed by the hingedly mounted door 12 which is normally retained in its closed 'position by the screws 13, eeebigs., 3 and a., This Idoor 1Q is only to tie opened when repairs or changes Iare to be made to the in. strumcntalities housed. Within the cabinet, the door or section 1l formed? in the top Wall 10 being employed- Jfor mentsv necessary for successfully veperating the receiving set. y
The interior of the cabinet, 5 'is divided into a plurality ot compartments by they shelves 14, 15 and 16, While the shelves 15 and 1G are provided with partitions 17 and 18 for forming tour, substantially equi-sized compartments Within which auch instruments as transformers, B batteries, etc. may' be housed. An elongated compartment 19 is formed by a artition 2O which extends between the she ves 14 and 16 and iushly engages one transverse edge of theshelt 15 and is provided for housing; the connections madeV between the various instrumentalities liousedwithin the cabinet and the jacks or terminale carried 'by the panel Qt embedded' in the side wall el o5 the cabinetD liti?,
mi; itc it. The side weii is further proxiiieii, ih :i ineteiiic insert 2? baring n icuii, ere "ri carried thereby igor permitting ciw-'tric bnib 99, associated with the biitifi :nui charging circuit for indicating n thc. sinne is in operation to be viewed 'i necessitating the opening oie `the En*rw troni' door h. This insert 27 is 'luriher nrnviilci'l with :if circuler series of :ipcrtures Si? by ineens of which 'turnos dis chai-neit by the battery cells inny find their Le wny out of the cabinet, the seid apertures niso providing ineens ior 'Ventilating the interior of -he cabinet.
in the various figures, this wireless rei-ciring apparatus cabinet is illustrated as bringY :ilizicheil to :i tnlliinlg n nizichine cabinet Iii. it is to he understood that while this cnbinet 5 is especially adapted for beingi connected to :i talking machine cabinet, it iniiy :is readily be secured to any other piece of m furniture haring at least one vertically extending surlzice or it n'niy be mounted upon :i
door or :i wall oi a room. The mounting of this cabinet 5 upon the buck Wall of a vic- -trol=i, iii which position it will be very incon- .'picuous, may best be accomplished by employing tubular bolts 32 which :ire .flanged at one end, as at 32, and externally screw threaded :it the other end 33 forethe recep tion of the clznnping nut ,34, see Fig. 5. These boite inziy be inserted through holes drilled in the wail ot' the cabinet 31 and pass through the apertures 35 formed n the bracket straps 36 suitably secured to the rear wail 9 ot' the cabinet 5. l
In Figs. l and 2 there isshown e remote control. unit 371j which is embodied in an eps piication referred to above3 connected to Lemme suitable tops ceirieti by the panel 2 by the ciibie Sfwhicb evteutis into tue upper or turn-table compe' out oi the tiiiiing nnichine cabinet 3l through one oi ine tubu-y ier bolts in fig. l this 'remote contr-oi unit is iinistrcteci :is bein positioned 3 1 when the i'orn'ier is not in use. The tone Y :ii-in 40, see Fig. of the milking miic-hina is iniendeii to be enipioyeii for haring e phone nuit il suitably attached to its sound box for permitting the .sound bon', tone arm, und.
horn, not Shown, to be useei :is e. iouci speel;-
hugr unit. This phone unit il is intended to be attehegi te the suitabe terminals on the pziiie. 2i. rby e cable which extends into the coinpartnjient 39 through the remaining tubuizir boit it is nonT believed that xiii of the advantugesaposscsseil by this invention here been iuliy oiisciosedz it, also, is te be understood that the iorin of this invention herewith shown und described is to be taken as a preferred exampie of the seme, and that Various changes in the shape, size, sind arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departingr from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus `described the invention, cluiin ln a device of the type described, e cabinet adapted for housing music prod icing mechunisin, si cabinet adopted to house e, wireless receiving set, a portion of one wall of said hitter cabinet being constructedfor the reception of jacks and other electrical connector elements, end tubular members pascing through portions of both of said cabinets for connecting ithe receiving eet cabinet to the nnisicmeci'iiinism housing cai'iinet and for permitting wires attached to the electric connector elements to pass therethrough into the last mentioned cabinet,
l In testimony whereof I eilix my signature.
