Fig. 6, is a view similar to Fig. 1, show- The tickets or checks for which the dein'Q,- a modification in the holder and notcher. vice isintendedtobe used for holding-and Fig. 7, is a face view thereot', and Fig. 7 notching, are furnished in the form of an this an edge view of the same. elongated rectangular tablet or pad of Like numerals of reference reterto corresuperposed tickets, each of said tickets sponding parts throughout the differen usually being weakened ina transverse line views of the drawing. near-its top, by Lmeans of perforations, and Referring now moreparticularly to Figs. so each having'onlits frontface near eachot 1 to 4 inclusive, the reference numeral :10, its edges a column of ,numerals.diyided designates the body of the holder which by short transverse lines, said numerals or consists of a rectangular plate having at numbers indicating cents and increasing one of itsends a transversely and forwardtrom the numeral 5 in the ll'illllO of live 1y disposed portion or top 11 of about the 55 cents, up to any desired number or value. same width as that otthe thickness 'ot one The main object of the invention is, the otthe pads of tickets. The trout portion provision ofadevice of theabove mentioned ot the top 11., is bent or extended downgeneral character, which shall be of but .wardly in parallelism with the body 10, for few parts, simple and inexpensive in cona short-distance to form aportion 12, ot the struction, strong, durable and efiicient in front part of the holder tor the tickets, at 7 its operation. their upper ends. The trontholding part More specifically another object is the 12, is provided at its middle with a downprovision of a holder and notcher or cutter wardly extended and outwardly curved for checks or tickets, which can be, it de tongue 13, which is by preference somewhat sired, made of a single piece of material, resilient and free to move. yet of such construction or form as to se- As is clearly shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the curely hold a tablet or package of superlower portion of the part 19., is provided posed tickets in such a way that they may with a tubular bearing 14:, having at its be easily separated and severed at a middle an upwardly extendedangular cut- 100 weakened point thereof, one at a time, and ting or notching member 15, which is disthen cut or notched at a desired point in posed directly in front of the tongue 18, one of its edges so as to remove one of the and co-operates therewith in cutting or numbers representing the price of the cusnotching the tickets. The upper portion of the body 10, has punched therefrom mid way between its edges an inwardly bowed clamping tongue or member 16, which rests against the rear upper portion of the pad of tickets and assists in holding the same against the front holding part 12, of the holder.
The member 16, has a hook 17, at its lower edge for engagement with the rear portion of a broken link 18, the spaced ends of which engage the bearing 14-, at the lower front portion of the holding member 12, which portion of said members rest against the face of the pad slightly above the weakened portions 19, of the tickets. instead of employing a link 18 with its ends curved outwardly as shown in Figs. 2 and i, a link 8 of rectangular shape as shown in Fig. may be used for more securely holding the pad or tablet of tickets in place, than if they were omitted.
The modification shown in Figs. 6 to 8, inclusive consists in omitting the member 16, from the upper portion the body 10, and in disposing the front. holding portion 12, at an angle towards the body 10, instead of in parallelism therewith as in the other construction, also in providing said portion 12, with an angular notch 20, to co-operate with a cutter 21, of similar shape and a size to enter the notch. The cutter 21. is fixedly mounted on the upper front transverse portion 22, of a substantially rectangular loop 23, which embraces the body 10. diagonally, as shown. The transverse portion, or shaft 22 may be broken to allow its easy insertion into the tubular bearings 14: on the lower edge of the partl2 inwhich bearings said shaft is journaled for rotary movement.
It is obvious. that in the modified construction now under consideration, a pad of tickets can be readily inserted at its upper end into the space between the lower edge of the part 12, and the upper portion of the body 10, against the lower surface of the top 11, where it will be securely held in such a way that the weakened portions 19, of the tickets will lie approximately in line with the lower edge of the part 1.2, thus affording means as in the other construction for assistance in severing the tickets at their weakened portions, for it is manifest that by separating the front ticket at its lower portion from the tablet and properly manipulating it, the same can be easily torn from the stub end of the tablet when either construction is used, after which, one of the side edges of the ticket can be placed between the cutter or notcher l5 and tongue 13, of the first described construction, with the numeral of the ticket indicating the purchase price, under the member 15, when it is apparent by pulling the ticket against the point of the said member, that portion of the ticket bearing the said price numeral will be removed, thus indicating when presented to the cashier the amount to be paid.
T he same operation is carried out where the modified form shown in Figs. 6 to 8, in-
elusive is employed, except, that the ticket is placed with its edge to be out between the cutter 21, and front portion 12, when by pressing the lower portion of the member 23 towards the lower portion of the back of the body 10, it is obvious said cutter will co operate with the notch 20. in the part 12 to clip out the price numeral of the ticket.
Havin thus fully described the invention, what I claim as no i and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. in a device of the class described the combination with an elongated plate having at its upper end a for aid disposed top pori'lOTi provided at its front part with a downwardly extended front holding part for a package of tickets, said front holding part having at its lower edge a bearing, of a link embracing said plate and journaled in said bearing and a cutter extended upwardly from said bearing and adapted to cooperate with said front holding part for forming a notch in a ticket.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with an elongated plate having at its upper end a forwardly disposed top portion and below said portion a downwardly extended and inwardly positioned resilient tongue, said top portion provided at its front partwith a downwardly extended holding portion for a package of tickets, said front holding portion having at its lower edge a bearing and about midway between its ends an upwardly extended cutting member, a cutter extended upwardly from said bearing and adapted to co-operate with said front, holding part for forming a notch in a ticket, and a link embracing said plate and journaled in said bearing.
