Description

J. SAXE COLLAPSIBLE TUBE Nov. 10, 1925- Filed July 2, 1925 INVENTOR adaaze.
ATTORNEY Patented Nov. 10, 1925.
UNITED STATES;
JOHN SAXE, or CARTAGO, cosre men, CENTRAL AM RICA, ASSIGNOR or onnqmnn PATENT OFFICE.-
T0 HENRY GERRY PUBDY, or sen JOSE, cosra RICA, CENTRAL AMERICA,
, COLLAPSIBLE TUBE.
Application filed July 2, 1925. Serial No. 41,024.
This invention relates to collapsible tubes for-containing and dispensing viscous substances, and my improvement is particularly directed to devices of this kind such asare I used with tooth paste, shaving paste, un-
' guents, and the like.-
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a cap or closure device for collapsible tubes of such nature that the tube and cap can be fitted together and securely-united by simply pressing them one against the other and can be disconnected by pulling.
them apart, thereby avoiding the screwing and unscrewing operations involved by the use of screw caps.
made between cap and tube is provided by giving globular form to the tube nozzle, like the male part of a snap fastener, and by i giving complementary shell-like form to the cap, with slits in its wall, that it may resemble the female part of a snap fastener.
A further object of my invention is to equip the cap with means whereby it may be attachable to a shelf. wall or other object or surface to become a fixture having a definite location, so that the collapsible tube when fitted thereto by means of its'nozzle occupies a particular predetermined position, ,where it is always at hand for removal and service.
Inthedaily use of tooth paste, shaving paste, etc. it is common to leave the tube uncovered to save bothering about screwing on the cap, and often, too, the cap becomes lost, but when, after using the tube it. is merely necessary to press its nozzle into a cap having a fixed location, thereby in'the one act putting the tube away and closing it, both orderliness and sanitation are served 4 in one act, with a minimum of efi'ort;
Other features andadvantages' of my invention will hereinafter appear.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved closure means for collapsible tubes, shown as provided with attached means whereby it issecured to a fixed support in. the'form f! n! v w Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of said closure means. Fig. 3 is a top plan tube with the closure means removed.
F g. 4 is an elevation of the closure means having a modified form of support attaching means, said-view showing a collapsible tube as pendent from the closure means, and F 1g."5 1s a perspective view of the modi fication.
In said figures let lindicate a collapsible view of a collapsible tube of well known character, except that its neck 2 is surmounted by a swelled or globj her of a snap fastener in effecting engage-V ment and disengagement .between the cap and tube.
By the means described the cap portion 5 may function like the (female mems The necessary security 1n the union that is respectively in the simple acts of pressing said elements together and pulling them apart, thus avoiding the greater labor required in screwing on and-oit' accordingto r In; Figure 1 the attaehed means take the form of a screw- 7 which extends from the cap and is provided .avithfjofisetmeans 8 to provide a bracing efiect andto'permit finger grasp thereof to be had for driving the screw into a support, such as that indicated a 9 where thecap is to be secured to.'a shelf, such as may be of glass ormaterial incapable of receiving a screw, then the means "f attached-to the-capmay include a. clip such as that indicated t 10')" Figs, 4 ends,
. so of a col- .laps1ble tube may be applied andrremoved Where it is shown as composed of folded wire or rod adapted to straddle and frictionally engage a shelf 11.
7 Variations within the spirit and scope of,
5 my invention are equally comprehended by the foregoing disclosure.
I claim: As a new article of manufacture, a closure cap having snap fastener engagement with 19 the nozzle of a collapsible tube, a holder integral with and extending substantially right angularly from the axis of said cap, said holder being provided with means for securing it to a fixed, supportyand bracing resist the pressure applied in forcing the tube nozzle into said cap.
