J. PARZIALE HAIR TRIMMING GUIDE Filed Feb. 6,
BY ATfORNEYS Patented Oct.27, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
JEAN PARZIALE, OF RICHMOND HILL, NEW YORK.
HAIR-TRIMMING GUIDE.
Application filed February 6, 1925. Serial No. 7,355.
To all whom it may coacern:
Be it known that I, JEAN PARZIALE, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of the city of New York, Richmond 5 Hill, borough of Queens, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hair-Trimming Guide, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention has relation to guides for use in trimming the hair, the same being particularly designed as a means forfacilitat-ing the trimming of bobbed hair.
It has been found that the expense attached to maintaining bobbed hair properly trimmed is almost prohibitive to persons of average means and it is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a guide element by means of which a person may effectually accomplish the trimming of bobbed hair with a high degree of accuracy.
As a further object the invention comprehends a hair trimming guide which is comparatively simple in its construction and mode of use, which is inexpensive to manufacture and which is highly eflicient in its purpose.
With the above recited and other objects in View, the invention resides in the novel construction set forth in the following specification, particularly pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that the right is reserved to embodiments other than those actually illustrated herein, to the full extent indicated by the general meaning of the terms in which the claims are expressed.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective View of a hair trimming guide for bobbed hair in applied position to the head.
Fig. 2 is a plan View thereof.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view theretl'irough taken approximately on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a similar view taken approxi mately on the line 47-4 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference 10 designates a substantially semi-circular bandeau or strip which is of substantially concavo-convex configuration in cross section-and is provided at 1ts lower edge with a series of parallel comb teeth 11 having angular inwardly projecting termiceive and accommodate the ears when the .device is applied. At its forward ends the bandeau 10 is provided with vertically spaced apertures 14 through which are secured one terminal of each strap sect-ion 15.
One of the sections of each pair is provided with a connecting and adjusting buckle 16 and the uppermost pair of strap sections are designed to fit around the forehead while the lowermost pair of strap sections are fitted around the upper lip so as to securely maintain the guide in place.
In use and operation the guides are properly applied to the head as illustrated and scissors or clippers are used to trim away the hair which projects beyond the toothed lower edges. By using the lower free ends of the teeth as a guide the hair extending below the same is cut away and shaved to finish off the trimming operation.
I claim:
1. A guide for facilitating the trimming of bobbed hair comprising a substantially semi-circular bandeau, a parallel series of comb teeth at the lower edge of said bandeau having angular inwardly projecting terminals and means for retaining said device in place on the head, said bandeau having outwardly pressed portions at diametrically opposite sides for accommodating the ears.
2. A guide for facilitating the trimming of bobbed hair, comprising a. substantially semi-circular strip of material having out wardly. pressed portions at diametrically opposite sides for accommodating the ears, and teeth at its lower edge having angular inwardly-projecting terminals, the free edges of which are disposed in a line shaped to conform withthe configurations of the bobbed cutto be made.
