IMPROVEMENT lN PIANO-PEDAL ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,823, dated October 13, 1874; application filed September 16, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SARAH W. BLAKE, of Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Piano-Pedal Extension 5 and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with. the accoin pan yin g drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent a side View.
This invention relates to an attachment for the pedals of pianos and similar instruments, for the purpose of extending the pedals so that children can reach them, which it is impossible for them to do as such instruments are now constructed.
The invention consists in an adjustable attachment applied to the pedals to bring a hearing or foot-rest up Within reach of the child sitting at the instrument, as more fully hereinafter described.
A represents one of the pedals of the instrument. B is the stock formed with a slot, C, to set onto the pedal, where it is secured by a clamping-screw, D. On the stock is an internally-threaded post, E, into which a correspondingly-threaded spindle, F, is placed,the spindle provided with a foot-rest, G, upon its upper end.
If preferred, the spindle and post may be constructed with the spindle tubular, to screw on outside the post.
The foot-rest Gr is raised or lowered by simply turning it in the direction to produce the desired elevation, so that the child may rest its foot upon the rest G, and, hearing thereon, will operate the pedal the same as if the foot bore directly thereon.
I do not claim an adjustable pedal.
I claim- The herein-described pedal-extension, consisting of the slotted stock B, clamp D, and foot-rest Gr, arranged to adjust by screwing into and out of the standard or post, substantially as specified.
