UNITED STA T'ES JULIEN ALBERT LEMETAIS, o1 PARIS, FRANCE.
COCK FOR HOT AND COLD WATER WITH A SINGLE DOUBLE-ACTING VALVE.
Application filed February 13, 1925. Serial No. 9,014.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIEN ALBERT LEMfi'rAIs, a citizen of France, and a resi dent of Paris, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cocks for Hot and Cold Water with a Single Double- ActingValve, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to cocks so constructed as to permit at will either the discharge of cold water alone or of hot water alone or of a mixture of cold and hot water at a determined temperature With the above'and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
The drawings appended represent In Fig. 1 a front view of the cock;
In Fi 2 a horizontal section according to line D;
In Fig. 3 a vertical section according to the line A-B;
The Figures 4:, 5 and 6 show the different positions of the valve during working of the cock;
The Figures 7, 8 and 9 show a simplified executional form of the cock.
The cock is composed of a body (1. obtained by casting and having an opening I) for admission of hot water and a concentrically disposed annular opening 0 arranged for the outlet of water into a mixing chamber d where the two kinds of water are mixed before discharge through an open- 1n 0.
it valve f with its piston 9 serves to open or to close the different channels. The additional piece h with its orifice '5 forms the seat against which the back face of the valve closes in order to cut off the admission of cold water and to secure thereby charge of hot water alone.
The body of the cock is closed bya part is which serves to guide a screw connected with the handle of the cock. Said handle has a pointer which coacts with a dial to indicate the various positions of the cock.
F is the hot water inlet and F indicates the cold water inlet.
When the cock is closed, (Fig. 2 the the disuncovers completely the channel I) of hot water admission (Fig. 4).
The valve continuing the backward motion, cold and hot water are discharged simultaneously (Fig. 5) and the tem era-' ture of the mixture of the two kin s of water increases progressively until'the back face of the valve 7 places itself on the seat of the piece h in order to thereby completely close the discharge of cold water and to give at this moment hot water alone (Fig. 6).
.The Figs. 7, 8 and 9 show a simplified form of mixing cock in, which the valve is a simpledisc coacting with a seat provided in the head part of the body itself of the cock screwed into the body.
In Fig. 7 the valve is shown as in an initial position, closing the admission of hot water and partly closing the admission of cold water.
In Fig. 8 the valve is shown in an intermediate position, open for the admission of hot water and partly closing the admission of cold water.
In Fig. 9 the valve is shown as entirely the flow of hot water and entirely preventing the flow of cold water.
The cock may be employed for mixture ofall kinds of liquids and may deliver also a mixture of cold water and steam.
What I claim is 1. In a cock for cold and hot water, a central conduit for admission of hot water, a conduit for admission of cold water, and a conduit concentric with said central conduit to conduct the waters into a mixing chamber.
2. In a cock for cold and hot water a central conduit for admission of hot water, a conduit for admission of cold water, a mixing chamber preceding the discharge opening of the cock, and an annular conduit concentric with said central conduit, to conduct the Waters into said mixing chamber.
3. In a cock for cold and hot Water, a
I central conduit for hot Water, a conduit for cold Water, a mixing chamber, an annular conduit concentric with said central conduit to conduct the Waters into said mixing chamber, a single double actlng valve and an addltlonal piece carrylng the seat of said 10 valve.
In wltness whereof I affix my signature.
'JULIEN ALBERT LEMETAIS.
