Be it known that .I, J our. TERRELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Fingerprint, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a novel method of preventing fraud by the use of finger prints, or the combination of finger prints.

The object of the invention is to provide novel means for proving the ownership of a card or the like, by the combination of finger prints overlapping each other so that both finger prints would be marred in the event that a person endeavored to erase or change the original finger prints.

The figure illustrates a motor vehicle operators license, the overlapping finger prints being shown thereon.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the license card issued to prove that the person holding the card is entitled to operate a motor vehicle, within a stated territory.

The card is supplied with the persons name to whom the same is issued, and one portion of the card is ruled to provide a space 6 for'the reception of the finger prints of the person issuing the card, as well as the persons finger prints to whom the card is issued.

As shown, the finger prints are overlapped, the reference characters 7 indicating as for example, the finger print of the person issuing the card, while the reference character 8 designates the finger prints of the person to whom the card is issued, so that should the card fall into the hands of some person not entitled to use the same, the person could not by erasing thumb print 8,. place his finger print thereon without obliterating the finger print of the person who issued the card, to the end that the card 4 would show that the finger print had been tampered with.

\ While I have shown and described the invention as used on license cards, it is to be understood that the method of identification may be employed on various types of identification cards or documents.

It might be further stated that the. finger prints may be made with varied colored inks to render it more difiicult for persons to change the finger prints.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A method of identification including providing a card, and placing finger prints thereon, one finger print overlapping the other finger print.
