GAME APPARATUS.
Application mea January 15, 1924A. semi No. 686,404.
To @ZZ whom t may concern.: y
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. KEELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Anadarko, in the county of Caddo and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved game apparatus and seeks to provide an apparatus embodying a table havingpermanently mounted at one end thereof a set of pivoted ten pins and wherein a suitable ball, such as a billiard ball, may, by means of an ordinary cue, be driven down the table for overthrowing the pins.V
The invention seeks, as a further object, to provide a game apparatus wherein the ball will be automatically returned to the player.
And the invention seeks, as a still further object, to provide an apparatus wherein the player may, without leaving his position, readily reset the pins.
Other and incidental objects will appear hereinafter. t 4
In the drawings: Figure lis a side elevation of my improved game apparatus, i f l Figure 2 is a top lplan view of the device, Figure 3 is an enlarged detail plan view of the pin supporting frame, particularly illustrating the mounting of the pins thereon as well as illustrating the mounting of the setter mechanism for the pins,
Figure 4 is an enlarged detail sectional view on the line .4 4 of Figure 3, looking in the direction of the arrows,
Figure 5 is an enlarged detail sectional view on the line 55 of Figure 4, looking in the direction of the arrows, and Figure 6 is a detail sectional view on the line6-6 of Figure 3.
In carrying the invention into effect, I einploy an oblong table 10 having upstanding side and end boards 11 while at the rear end of the table is provided a trough l2 inclining toward a returnway 13 `mounted at one side of the table to incline downwardly tothe forward end thereof, the returnway being provided at its forward end with an appro,- priate stop 14. Straddling the table near the rear end thereof are spaced upstanding brackets 15 and 16 appropriately secured at their ends to thenside boards of thevtable and suspended by said brackets in spaced parallel relation'fto the table is a pin supporting frame 17. As brought out in Figure 3 of the drawings, the frame 17 is substantially V-shaped and is secured at its ends to an end bar 18, and extending through said bar near its extremities are parallel hanger rods `19 freely accommodated through the bracket 15. `Screwed upon the upper ends of said rods are nuts 20. Engaged `with the forward end of the frame is a similar hanger PATENT oFFlcnl rod 21 which is freely accommodated through the bracket 16 and screwed upon the upper end of said rod is a nut 22. Thus, the rods 19 and 21 will serve to rigidly support the frame 17 above the `tablewhile the nuts 2()` and 22 of saidrods may be adjusted for elevating or llowering the frame tothe exact position desired. Extending transversely between the sides of the frame 1 are spaced parallel cross lbars 23 secured lat their endsv to saidsides, `as shown in detail in Figure .Y
6, by -hook bolts 24 and mounted upon said bars to. project forwardly therefrom is a plurality of U-shaped brackets25,`the endsof which are,as best seen in Figure 4,.provided with eyes 26.` Securing each o f the brackets is a. .pair of bolts 27 and mounted upon the cross bars 23 between said pairs of bolts are forwardly projecting yieldable stop members 28 which may be `of leather or other suitable material. Removable extendin Y through the sides of the frame 17 and through theeyes 26 ofthe brackets 25 are cross rods 29 and swinginglypmounted upon said rods between the arms of said brackets is a` set of ,miniature ten pins 30.` Inserted throughthe pins 30 to accommodate `"the rods 29 are, as shown in Figure A3,pbushings V341 and Vthese bushings extend at the sides Cof the pins to, abut the eyes 26 of the brackets 25 for centering the pins between the arms of said brackets..` Extending from the upper end portions of the pins are laterally directed studs 32 displaced rearwardly with respect to the longitudinal centerline of ythe pins andmounted` upon the cross bars 23 to coact by the bolts27, while for the, spring ofthe its opposite end free to bear against said the cross bars and having sides straddling stud for yieldably holding the pin set. the pins and limiting the pins against move- 7 In a game apparatus, a substantially ment along the rods, and a fiat spring as 10 V-shaped frame, spaced cross bars carried sociated with each of said pins normally 5 thereby, cross rods extending transveresly holding each of said pins set.
