i SUPPORT FOR CURTAIN RODS.

To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Louis RosENBLA'r'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, V'have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Supports for Curtain Rods, of which the following is a specification, referi ence being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.

This invention relates to a certain new and useful improvement in curtain-rod supports and has for its chief object the provision of a simple, inexpensive, compact, and eiiicient support that may be readily mounted or attached upon the window-casing, and with and from which the curtainrod may be conveniently engaged and disengaged.

Vith the above and other objects in view, my present invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combination ofv parts hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawing,

Figure 1 is a fragmental view .of a window and its casing equipped with a pair of curtain-rod supports shown in front elevation, embodying my invention; and

Figure 2 is a perspective view of one of the supports.

Referring now more in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention, A, A designate a companion pair of curtain-rod supports of my invention, adapted for employment `in connection with which is a bar or rodV B comprising complementing members 1 and 2 preferably of substantially C-shape in cross-section and fitting for the most part telescopically one within the other, as shown, for longitudinal rod-adjustment to selectively adapt the rod to fit windows or casings of different width. Each member 1 and 2 is suitably formed adjacent its outer end with a lateral eXtension 3 of suitable length, so that, when the rod is in curtain-supporting position upon window-casing or the like, as illust-rated in Figure 1, the major portion of the rod will be disposed away from the window and support the curtain or drape in properly spaced relation from the Window; and each of the extensions 3 is, in turn, suitably formed at its outer end with an angular outwardly presented foot 4c projecting lengthwise of the rod in substantially parallel relation with the body-portion of the rod-members 1, 2.

Each support A is lconstructed preferably of a single section of suitable sheetmetallic material bent or otherwise formed and shaped to` integrally include an oblongrectangular approximately fiat back-wall 5 provided at its upper and lower ends with projecting lips 6, 6, suitably apertured, as at 7, to accommodate attaching or fastening screws or the like 8. Disposed over wall 5 in parallel spaced relation and joined or united at one, or, as it may be said, its outer margin to the adjacent outer margin of wall 5 by a suitably arcuated or bent connecting or side wall 9, is a so-called front-wall l0, which, in turn, at its lower marginal edge is formed with an extension or bottom wall 11 disposed inwardly and laterally to engage at its inner end with the upper face of the back-wall 5. It will be noted that front wall 10 is of reduced width relatively to the under or back-wall 5, extending from the outer margin to closely adjacent the inner margin of back-wall 5, and the support A hence, by means of the walls 5, 9, 10, and 11, includes a pocket open at its top and one side and of a corresponding size to snugly, but removably, fit and accommodate a foot 4L of the rod B. Bent up from the so-called inner marginal edge of, and projecting at right angles to, the back-wall 5, is a socalled foot-guiding wall 12.

In use and operation, a pair of the supports A are suitably located in spaced relation and disposed at their walls 5 approximately flatwise upon the window-casing and fixed thereto as by means of the fasteningmembers 8, the open upper side of said pocket beingy presented upwardly and the side walls 9 being presented outwardly, as illustrated in Figure 1. The rod B is then suitably lengthwise adjusted to correspond with the spacing of the supports A upon the window-casing and its feet 4 slidably fitted to seat within the pockets of the support A, the walls 12 functioning not only initially to guide the feet 4 into such seated position, but subsequently as retaining walls preventing any inwardcollapsing or adjustment of the rod. It will be evident that any outwardadjustment of the rod, when so supported, is prevented by the pocket side-walls 9 and front-walls 10, and thus the supportsl A function as a whole to firmly and rigidly support the rod B in proper curtain-supporting position upon the window.

My new curtain-rod supports may be inexpensively manufactured and readily .installed upon substantially any Windowiirame 0r casing and are exceedingly elticient inthe performance of their intended functions.

:I am aware that minor `changes in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the support may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from `the nature and principle of my invention.

Having thus described my invention,

what I claim and desire to Secure by Letters Patent is:

A curtain-'rod )support constructed of a single section of material bent and formed to integrally provide a pocket for seating a curtain-rod` foot, the pocket being open at its top and one lside and including a backwall, affront-Wall, a side-wall joining the back and front-walls at their outer margins only, t-he frontewall being disposed in spaced relation over, and extending to closely adjacent the innerl marginof theback-wall, Aa bottoni-wail projecting inwardlyV from the front-wall towards the. baclewall, and a foot-guiding and retaining-wall projecting outwardly from the yinner ,margin of the back-Wall and spaced from .the iliiieifiee edge of the front-wall.
