UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
oscnn r. nmwmm, onnnrnorr, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOB 'ro curru. muss won,
01 DETROIT; MICHIGAN, A. CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
' commm'rion LAUNDRY-TRAY BIB.
To all whom it may com-em:
Be it known that I, OsoAR P; BENJAMIN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Laundry-Tray Bibs, of which the following is a s ecification, reference being bad therein to t e accompanying drawings. This invention relates to combination laundry'tray bibs and has special reference to that class of bibs, cocks, faucets, spigots or the like wherein warm and cold water commingle and have a common outlet into a laundry tray, tub or any other receptacle.
Such bibs are ordinarily mounted on the rear wall of the laundry tray and communicate with hot and cold water supply pipes,
there bein two valvular structures by which the commmgling of hot and cold water is controlled, and the spout or outlet member of the bib extends over the tray to discharge water therein. is v The primary object of my invention is to provide novel brackets that may be easily and uickly attached to a tray wall to safely and rmly support the bib relative thereto, and the brackets may be reversed relative to the tray wall so as toplace the bib in a desired position, provide clearance for wall structures and permit of connections being easily established with water supply pipes.
A further object of my invention is to provide bib supporting brackets of simple desi that may e maintained in a sanitary con ition, there being no places where soap, dirt and other matter can accumulate and render the fixture unsanitary and unsightly.
The aboveandother objects are attained by a mechanical construction that will be 'hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bib supported relative to a tray wall;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same.
In the drawing, the reference numeral 1 denotes a substantially U-shaped bib fitting connected to water supply pipes 2, one of these 'pi es supplying hot water and the other co d water. The ends of the bib fitting have bonnet valves 3 of a conventional will be -ap form controlling the commin and cold water centrall of 5'18 tting 1, where there is a swivels laterally disposed spout or outlet member 4. In order that the spout or outlet'member may be freely swung n a lateral plane, I employ a swivel connectionformed by extending the member 4 into a smiling box 6, a suitable packing nut t8 being provided to form a water tight ]0ll1 cal alinement with the water su ply pipes 2 arechannel sha ed de endin lugs 11, the channels of sai lugs ing ongitudinally disposed and open at the rear faces thereof of hot i On the lower wall of thefitting 1, in vertito receive the upper ends of brackets 12,
which are attached to said lugs by screws- 13 or other fastening means preferably entered at the rear faces of the brackets. The upper ends of the brackets ma fit against and support the lower wall of the -fitting, and the lower ends of the brackets terminate in inverted U-shaped off-set clamping members 13 provided with re-inforcing ribs 14 and clamping screws 15, said screws being carried by those portions of the clam ing members alining with the upper ends 0 the brackets, or, in other words, the screws are at the rear sides of the brackets and are adapted to en age the rear face of a tray wall 16 over t e upper edge of which the clamping members 13 are mounted. The clamping members 13 permit of the bib being alined with the rear face of the tray wall 16 or with the front face thereof, it being only necessary to reverse the clam ing members from the position'shown and this may be necessary in such instances where there must be wall clearance.
By reference to Fig. 2 it will be noted that the bib presents a clean cut appearance with no interstices in which dirt and other matter may accumulate, and by reason of the brackets alining with the pipe connections there is clearance or a wide range of action for the swivel spout or outlet member 4 of the bib.
It is thought the utility of my invention 'arent without further description, and w ile in the drawing there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that the strucing into the channels thereof, and fastenin tural elements are ptib e to such variations and modifications as fall within. the scope of the appended v What I claim is 1. The combination of a bib, depending channel sha ed lugs carried thereby, supportin brac ets for said bib, said brackets vertica y alining with said lugs and extendmeans extending through said lugs -03 brackets to connect said lugs to said brackets.
2. The combination of a bib fitting ada ted to be secured to a tray wall, reversible brackets alining with said fitting and extending behind the tray wall and adapted when reversed to bring the fitting over the tray, means connect said brackets to said fitting, and means extending outwardly at right less to said brackets and over the tray well adapted for connecting said brackets to said tra wall in either osition.
3. The com ination of a bi de ending lugs carried thereby, supportin rackets for said bib, said brackets vertica y aliningoso P. BENJ' Witnesses K. H. BUTLER, G. E. MoG.
