' Be it known that I. WALTER H. HALL, a

citizen of the United States, residing at city and county of Denver and State of Colo rado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Egg Carriers, of which the following is a specification. i

My invention relates to an improvement in egg carriers.

The object is to provide a device of the character named which will afford safe carriage for the articles packed and shipped therein.

Another object is to provide a carrier of comparatively inexpensive character, light in weight, which can be nested for shipping into compact form, either when empty or folded, for shipping.

The invention consists primarily in a pair of pyramidal cells arranged to embrace'the article carried, such as an egg, at opposite ends, attaching the two half 'cells'yieldingly,

at more or less equidistant points rather than conforming precisely to the surface-0f the egg or aiticle packed.

As the carrier is preferably made of two members which are counterparts of each other, it will be. necessary to describe one onl lr i the preferred form, this section is made of a strip 1 of tough material such as pulpboard, straw-board, chip-board, or the like,

. In this strip 1 thereare as many square -slots' 2 as there are eggs or other articles to be carried, and the pyramidal cells 3 are secured in these slots. These slots might be 0 variously formed. They might be made of a -blank such as illustrated in Fig. 6, secured radially along the three lines 4 and brought together at the edges 5, and having the flanges 6 at the base glued or otherwise se-f 6.5 cured to the strip 1 at the edges of the slots,

or the cells might bepressed up as an in.-v tegral part of the strip as shown in Fig. 8.

It is repeated, the essential idea is the pyramidal shape, and these may come toa point or may be cut off-at the points, or the apexes may be flattened if desired; but with a the hollow pyramidal form the egg or other article is lightly. uniformly and yieldingly embraced at 8 different points on its surface, thus preventing undue pressure at any one point, and without any unnecessary rigidity which mighttend to break theishell. In other words, the cells in theirembrace present a uniform cushioning eflectupon the so article held, and, furthermore, all. the eggs."
