PAPER LINER FOB CAKE DECORATOBS.
Appunti nea nach 7, im. serial m. 13,723.
To all whom it may conce'm.: p
Be it known( that 4I, Josera Bnoxaw MArrsoN, -a citizen of United States, residing at Minneapolis,in the county of Henne' pin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new "and useful Improvements in Paper Liners for Cake Decorators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,and exact description vof the invention, such as will enable others skilled 1'5 liner therefor.
Inonly used consist of cloth bags having.
1 decorating it is necessary to wash the bag f removablenoz'zles for holding a decorating paste or other plastic substance to be forced through the nozzles onto cakes, desserts vor other dishes, by squeezing the bags.` lVhen different colored pastes are used for such .each time a dilferent coloris used or to use a. plurality of decorating bag's for holding the different colors.
By the use of my invention, the paste is placed in a. removable liner and does not come in direct' contact with the bag, and
when the decorating is completed theliner SUcan be removed and thrown away. thus y avoiding the necessity of washing the bag each time a different colored paste is used.
.To the above end, the invention consists -otv the novel devices and combinations of `devices hereinafter described .and defined in the claims. i
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings:
Fig. l is a side elevation of a cakedec rator having one of the removable liners inserted therein;
Fig. 2 is a view of the cake decorator and liner in central longitudinal section;
Fig. 3 is a sideelevation of the liner removed from the bag;
Fig 4 is a. plan view of the blank from which the liner is formed; and
Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the nozzle removed -from the liner and bag.
The cake decorator includes Ia conical cloth bag 6 having a truncated end to afford a nozzleopening 7 in which is removably mounted a metal nozzle 8 inserted through said opening fromthe inside of the bag.
My invention provides a removable conical liner 9, preferably of paper, adapted to be inserted into the bag 6 and having a truncated end to afford a nozzle opening 10 which is coincident with the nozzle opening 7. This liner 9 has the same taper asV the bag 6 and is inserted into the bag 6 before the nozzle 8 is inserted therein. Afterthe liner 9 is inserted into the bag the nozzle' 8 is inserted through lthe. coincident openings 7 and 10 and projects therethrough, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
It is important to 'note that the taper of the nozzle v8 is greater than that of either the Vbag 6 or liner 9 so that its rim engages a tight joint betweenthc nozzle 8 and liner -9,\as shown in Fig. 2. The. bag 6 and liner 9 have the same taper so that .said liner is reinforced by the bag to prevent the saine from bursting at thel time the'mouth of the -bag is held closed and sq'ueezed'to force the paste or other'substance held in the liner 9. Preferably, the liners 9are supplied to the trade with a gummed edge 11 and folded on lines 12. When a liner is to be used'it is only necessary to dampen the mined edge 11 and press the other longitudinal edge thereon to connect the respective edges of the liner 9 and plait the same. 'When the decorating is completed the liner -9 may be removed from the bag 6 and thrown away or when two or'iore colors are fused, a ditferent liner can be used for each'color and said liners interchangeably used while decorating a cake or the like.
The term cake is herein used in a broad sense to cover desserts and the like.
As is obvious, the device herein described and claimed may be used very generally for applying' pastry substances. i mong other materials that are often applied in ornamental or artistic designs may be mentioned mashed potatoes, cheese, modeling clay, plaster of Paris, etc.
.Vliat I claim is:
1. vA cake decorator comprisin a.- bag, a removable liner for the bag, sai bag and liner ravi` tto-incident nozzle openings, and nozz mounted in said openings.
2. A cake decorator comprising a cloth bag, a removable `paper liner for said bag, said bag and liner having co=incident nozzle 'the liner with a. greater pressure to'form penilngs, en d a nozzle removably `mounted :in sald o penxngs.
5 or -said1bag, saidlbag and liner being trunf ated to'A giord cofincident nozzle openings, and a removable'. nozzle mounted in said 4Openings 4. The structure defined in claim 3 in Ymwhich the nozzle is of conical formation.
5. The structure defined in Iclaim 3v in y which the nozzle is of conical formation and l 3. A cake decorator 'comprising a. conical ',tlotlrbag, a removable'conical paper hner has a greater taper than said bag and liner -so that lits rim tightly presses against the liner toorm a tight joint between the nozzle and liner and to press the liner against the belg to reinforce the same.
. 1n testimony whereof I aix my signa# ture.
JOSEPH BRonAW MATTSON.
