Referring to 2 it will be noted that when the parts are in the position shown, the rope may be easily slaclzened or tightened around the heel without undue friction and that a simple movement of the free end of the rope will swing the dog to its position of co-operation with the lever 1. The end of the Ll-shaped member is adapted to engage the handle to limit the movement of the 2 in one direction whereby a portion of the groove will. always be tangent to the rope.
v What I claim as my invention is:
l. A. rope grip comprising a connecting frame; and pair of coasting rope clamping members pivotally mounted on the connecting frame, one of the members having one end adapted to be secured to a stationary part and having a toe formed on the other end, the second member having a surface for clamping the rope forced towards it by the said toe and said second member also having part formed thereonadapted toengage one of the other parts at a point distant from the rope clamping surfaces for limiting the movemen of the second members.
2. A ropegrip comprising a connecting frame; anda pair of co-acting rope clamping members pivotally mounted on the connecting frame, oneof the members having one end adapted to be secured to a stationary part and having a toe formed on the other end, the second member having a surface for clamping the rope forced towards it by the said toe and said second member also having a part formed thereon adapted to engage the first mentioned mem her at a point distant from the clamplng surfaces tor limiting the movement of the second member.
3. A rope grip comprising a connecting frame; a lever pivoted on said frame having one end adapted to be connected with a stationary part and having a'toe formed on the other end; and a co-acting member pivoted on said connecting frame and havlng a surface for clamping rope forcedtoward it by the said toe and having a heel over which the rope passes to swing the parts to their cooperating position said co-acting member also having a part formed thereon adapted to engage one of the other parts at a point distant from the rope clamping Surfaces for limiting the movement of the co-acting member.
4. A rope grip comprising a connecting frame; a lever pivoted on said frame having one end adapted to be connected with a stationary part and having a toe formed on i ieaeei the other'end; and a co-acting member pivoted on said connecting frame and provided with a heel and a handle, the heel having a surface formed thereon for clamping the rope forced towards it by the said toe, the handle adapted to engage one of the other parts for limiting the movement of the coacting member.
5. A rope grip comprising a connecting frame; a lever pivoted on said frame havi one end adapted to be secured to a stationary part and having a cam shaped toe formed on the other 'end thereof, the toe being provided with a grooved periphery; a co-acting member pivoted on said connecting frame and provided with a cam shaped heel having a groove formed in its periphery for guidingra rope and having a surface formed thereon for clamping the rope forced towards it by the said toe; and a handle formed on the co-acting member adapted to engage one of the other parts for limiting the movement of the co-acting member, the toe being adapted to be engaged by the said heel whereby the coacting member may be moved to rock the toe away from the clamping surface to bring the grooves into a.- co o'perative position.
6. A. rope grip comprising a connecting frame; a lever pivoted on said frame having one end adapted to besecured to a stationary part and having a cam shaped toe formed on the other end thereof, the toe being provided with a grooved periphery; a co-acting member pivoted on said connecting frame and provided with a cam shaped heel having a groove formed in its periphery for guiding a rope and having asurface formed thereon for clamping the rope forced towards it by the said toe; and a handle formed on the co-acting member adapted to engage one of the other parts for limiting the movement of the co-ac'ting men'iber and having a guide formed therein through Which the end of the rope may pass, the toe being adapted to be engaged by the said heel whereby a pull on the rope Will actuate the heel to rock the toe away from the clamping surfaceto bring the grooves into a co-operative position.
7. A rope grip constructed as set forth in claim 3 in which the connecting end of the lever and the heel of the co-acting member are located at one side of an imaginary line passing through the centres of the pivots and the part for limiting the movement of the co-acting member being located a l; the other side of said imaginary line.
