HENRY J. MASTEN'BBOOK, OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE OHIO BODY &,
BLOWER OOMZE'ANY, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, A CORPORATION OF OHIO.
BURNER.
App1ication filed January 29, 1920. Serial No. 354,844.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Penny J. Mas/TEN- BROOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lakewood, in the county of Cuyahog-a and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Burners, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to burners and more particularly to that class of burners which admix the combustible constituents after passage therethrough.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a burner of extremely simple and inexpensive construction, while further objects and advantages will beapparent as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings wherein I have shown an illustrative embodiment of my invention, Fig. 1 is a perspective View of my burner; Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a top plan view; and Fig. 4 is a section taken on the line t-fi of Fig. 3.
Describing the various parts by reference numerals, 1 indicates a top member, which may be a casting and which is provided with a longitudinally recessed portion 2 that communicates at the rear with the internally threaded intake opening 3 formed in a boss 4 which is preferably cast integral with the top member. The forward end of the re cessed portion communicates with a semielliptical discharge slit 5 which is deflected downwardly, as shown in Fig. 4. The lower member 6 is of a similar shape and construction as the top member except that the discharge slit 7 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the burner and preferably of a rectangular shape, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4.
A separator plate 8 is interposed between the upper and lower members, and the forward edge of the top side is ground off to define the lower side of the slit 5, as indicated at 9.
The upper and lower members and the separator plate have vertical aligning openings on each side of the recessed portion which receive the bolts 1111 for clamping the parts tightly together.
In operation, the combustible liquid, flui or gases, such as oil and steam, are connected through suitable controlling valves (not shown) to the inlet openings, from whence they pass through their respective recesses and are ejected through their respective slits.
The deflection of the slit 5 will cause the oil, it such is connected to the top memher, to be deflected upon the steam and form a homogeneous mixture therewith, as shown Having thus described my invention, what I claim is of said last mentioned slit converging toward the axis of said rectangular slit, and means for clamping said members and partition plate together.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto affix my signature.
HENRY .I. MASTENBROOK.
