Description
H. L. LECHLER. POT HOLDING ATTACHMENT FOR FAUCETS. APPLICATION FILIED FEB. 2- I922- 1,420, 197. Patented June 20, 1922. A
PTENT OFFICE.
POT-HOLDING- .ATTACHMENT FOR FAUCETS.
Application filed'February 2, 1922. Serial No. 533,541.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY L. LECHLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pot-Holding Attachments for Faucets, of which the following is a specification containing a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention consists in the novel con; struction and combination of parts hereinafter particularly described and distinctly claimed.
The object of my invention is to provide an improved hook or hooked-support attachment for water-faucets, particularly for use upon the faucets of kitchen sinks; whereby pots, kettles, and other bailed utensils may be supported while water from such faucets is flowing into them, and thereby obviate the necessity of supporting said utensils by hand during the filling of same with water from said faucets; and which attachment shall be very simple in construction and op eration, low in cost, and durable and reliable in use upon said faucets.
In the drawings,
Fig. 1 is a side-elevation of a faucet having my invention applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section through the same, on line 22 of Fig.1.
Fig. 3 is a side-elevation of a modified form of the invention, detached from the faucet, and
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the modified form of the invention, removed from the faucet.
The numeral 1 designates the hook memher, which is to be made of any suitable strong and durable metal or other material, and which is adapted to project centrally of the faucet nozzle 2, directly above the same, so as to support the bailed vessel or utensil centrally below the said nozzle.
Formed integral with the rear portion of said hook-member 1 is a semicircular clampmember 3, the rear end of which is formed by a perforated ear 4.
A recess or shoulder 5 is formed in a reduced vertical wall 6, which connects said hook-member l and said clamp-member 8,
and said wall is provided with a perforation, through which is passed a bolt or screw 7 for clamping a detachable clamping member 8 in position.
Said detachable clamping-member 8 has a perforated ear 9 at its forward end, and
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented June 20, 1922. I
said bolt or screw 7 is passed through the perforation of said ear.
The rear end of said detachable clampingmember 8 may be connected to the perforated ear 40f the said clamp-member 8 by a bolt or screw 10 passed through the perforations of the rear overlapping perforated parts, or (as shown in Figs. 3 and a) the rear end of said detachable clamping-member may be provided with a reduced extension 11, in place of a perforated ear, which detachably connects the parts by being inserted in the perforation of said perforated ear 4: of said clamp-member 3.
In operation, by tightening-up the bolt or screw 7 at the front of the device, (in either form of my invention), the hookmember 1 will be detachably and firmly held in the position in which it is shown; and bailed vessels or utensils that are hung upon said hook-member will be supported while water or otherliquid runs from said faucetnozzle 2; thereby relieving the operators hand from the trouble and necessity of sup porting the vessels or utensils while being filled.
I claim:
A hook-attachment for faucets, comprising a hook-member having a semicircular clamp-member integral therewith, said clamp-member at the junction of said members being ofreduced section; a second semicircular clamp-member adapted to engage at one end said reduced section, and at its other end the opposite end of said firstnamed clamp-member; and means for interconnecting said clamp-members at both ends for adjustment of said members on a support.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HARRY L. LECHLER. Witnesses:
HENRY L. HIGDoN, EDNA E. CONRAD.
