Be it known that I, Hneo Annnnn, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at 82 South Parkway, East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dental Clasps, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improved construction of one-piece dental clasps.

Some of the objects of my invention are; first, the construction of a clasp, the bands of which are slit whereby the position of the parts of the bands may be readily adjusted to fit difierent shaped teeth; second, to make all parts of the band integral; third, to make all parts of the band to conform readily and eflectively to dii'lerent shaped teeth; fourth, to reduce the weight of the band and at the same time to maintain the strength thereof; fifth, to decrease the amount of material necessary to make a hand without sacrificing the strength or ei fectiveness of the band; sixth, to reduce the strain of the band on a tooth, and seventh,

to increase the holding property of the tail-- piece of a clasp.

With these and further objects in view, one embodiment of my invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which Figure l is a perspective.

Figure 6 is a plan view of? a plate illustrating the use of my clasp.

My clasp may be made of any suitable material such as gold clasp metal, and comprises fingers 1 and 2, the finger 1 being on a higher horizontal plane than finger 2, a tail-piece 3 and a cusp i. The finger 1 and the tail-piece 3 have a slit 5 extending from near the outer end of the finger to near the extremity of the tail-piece 3. The finger 2 has a slit 6 from its outer end to a point adjacent the base of the tail-piece.

The slitting of the fingers enables the fingers to be adjusted on the tooth in order to obtain a secure hold. It will be apparent that with a suitable instrument, such as are well known to all dentists, the width between the fingers may be decreased or increased. The slitting of the tail-piece allows the rubber (not shown) in which it is usually embedded to'fiowin the slit thus forming a firm anchorage for the clasp. The cusp a may be indented as shown at 7 to fit into a depression in a tooth. In the modification shown in Figures 4 and 5, the arms 8 extend on the same horizontal plane. The slit 9 in the arms is not continuous with the slit 10 in the tail-piece.

In Figure 6 the use of my clasp is illustrated. Natural teeth 11 are shown having a plate 12, in which are false teeth 13, at taohed to the natural teeth 11 by two of my improved clasps. The tail-piece inserted in the rubber plate is shown in dotted lines.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A dental clasp comprising fingers, said fingers having slits therein whereby the po sition of the fingers on a tooth may be adjusted.

2. A dental clasp comprising fingers, said fingers having slits therein and a tail-piece, said tail-piece having a slit to provide for the firm anchoragethereof.

3. A dental clasp comprising fingers and a tailpiece, one of said fingers and the tailpiece having a continuous slit therein and another finger having a slit therein not connected with said first-named slit.

, 4. A dental clasp comprising fingers, one of said fingers on a different horizontal plane than another of said fingers.

5. A dental clasp comprising fingers and a tail-piece, one of said fingers on a different horizontal plane than another of said fingers, one of said fingers and the tail-piece having a continuous slit therein and another of said fingers having a slit therein not connected with said first-mentioned slit.

6. A dental clasp comprising fingers and a tail piece, one of said fingers on a different horizontal plane than the other of said fingers, said fingers having slits therein whereby the position of the fingers on a tooth may be adjusted, and said tail piece having a slit therein whereby a firm anchorage thereof may be obtained.
