it is well appreciated that timers now upon the market have one inherent detect in that in both sliding and rolling contact timers the friction between the various parts renders a renewal of the same imperative after the power plant with which they are associated has been operated tor a certain length of time.
another detect, particularly noticeable in connection with the timer utilized on automotive vehicles of the Ford type has been that certain of the wires leading from such timer are liable to come in with moving; parts of the power plant, resulting in a stripping in the insulation from such wires and a subsequent detectin the operation oi the power plant.
lVith view of avoiding the tirst-nuiucd detect constructions have been primosed embodying a circuit making and breaking means not relying upon a sliding; or roliin' contact, but these timers have proven incite cient in that it has been diihcult and consequently expensive to iuanutzu-ture the parts of which the same are comprised and parti'cularly to assemble such parts to term a complete unit.
lVith a view (it overcoming; these dii'liculties I have constructed a timer which shall embody circuit making and breaking parts not relying on a sliding or rolling contact, which parts shall be extremely simple in construction and permit of great ease in assemblying.
A further objectof my invention is the construction of ti or avoiding; the ditiiculty heretofore experienced in that the various lead wires running from the same are so disposed that certain of them are liable to come in contact with moving parts of the power plant.
A still further object of my invention is the construction of a timer of the Ford type which will permit the use of: a smaller cam, thus reducing the wear on the surface of the cam and the parts contacting with the same.

Each of the shafts 19 ii'ockingly mounts a yoke-like mem ber 20, one arm of which is formed with a contact surface 21 in a line with a contact point 22 formed by a conventional lead terminal projecting through the ring 15. A spring; 23 of any desired construction cooperates with the yoke members 22 and serves to firmly cause the contact surface 21 thereof to be pressed into engagement with the contact point 22 formed by the terminal.

Subsequent to such. assemblage the ring; 15 contracted, this being peri'nitted by the split portion 17, thereof, and the ring is inserted, into the cap 10 until. the 'tlangi'e 1.43 is adjacent the groove '14: ot the cap at which point the rin is permitted to extend so that the flange 1(5 thereoi enters the groove and the outer face of such ring lies this against the inner face oi? the flange 13.
Now with a View of retaining the ring 15 immovable with respect to the cap 10, one ol? the flanges 18 h as its end i. e. the portions adjzment the split part 17 llared. outwardly with respect to one another, as has been indica ted at 26, and a screw can now be inserted between the ends ot such flange and in an opening formed in the cap 10, the 'tlared head of such screw bearing against the out turned ends of such flange and upon being tightened against the same will expand the ring 15 against the inner face of the flange i3 and. thus render the sanieinnnovablc with respect thereto.
