D Specification of Letters Patent.
` Application led August 6, 1919. Serial 1\To.`3157,618.7Y
T 0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I', VOJTCH PUG, 'a citizen of the Czecho-Slovak Republic, residing at Prague-Vinohrady, in Bohemia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snap Buttons, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to separable fasten-v ers of the kind generally known as press buttons or snap buttons, and which are composed of two members, a stud member andA a socket member, which latter `carries springs which engage the stud when the latter is in the socket.l l
Ordinarily the two members of the fastener are connected to the garment by means of threads extending through what are termed thread holes in the base plates of the members, but according' to my invention wire is employed for this purpose.
y improvements are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which F ignre `l is a sectional view showing a snap button of well known form applied to two pieces of cloth or two parts of a gar ment by means of wire in accordance with my invention. The section of Figure l is taken on line 1 1 of Figures 2 and 3.
Figure 2 is a top plan view showing part of the cloth removed from the fastener.
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view with part of the cloth removed.
lFigure 4 shows a modied construction, the view being partly in plan and partly in section and with the cloth covering one part of the member, which in this instance is the socket member of the fastener.
Figure 5 is a detail sectional view on the line 5 5 of Figure 4f.
Figure 6 is a detail sectional view on the line 6 6 of Figure 4C.
Figure 7 is a bottom plan view of the stud member of the fastener applied to a piece of cloth.
Figure 8 is a detail view in section on the line 8 8 of Figure 7.
Figure 9 is a detail view in section on the line 9 9 of Figure 7.
The two pieces of cloth shown in the several figures are designated by the letters A and B. The socket member of the fastener is indicated by the letter C, and the stud member by the letter'D. These two members are of well known construction. The socket member is provided with a spring c. The inner ends of the spring are held, by curled over adapted to enter throughslots inthe' socket member in the usual way to engagethe stud member. The outer ends of the springvare portions d of the perrpheral portion of the socket member. It will be observed that the socket member is not formed with thread holes, but a wire E is employed for attaching this member to the cloth. The peripheral part of the socket member has portions e turned inwards to form tubular the drawings. suitable distances apart' to provide spaces between them, and the wire E .is passed through all of spaces between these parts. applied to the socket member and to ,the cloth by devices which are applied to the socket member and to the cloth in such manner as to raise the cloth as indicated at F in Figure 2 between the parts e, while vvthe remainder of the cloth is depressed below these parts as indicated at f. In'th'is way alternate raised portions and depressed portions are formed and the wire is made to Y pass through and across these raised and depressed portions, and thus connect the member to the cloth.
The stud member is connected with the cloth in a substantially similar way. The base'of thestud member is provided with tubular parts g extending from the periphery of the base inwards and arranged suitable distances apart to provide spaces t between them. By means of suitable devices the cloth is formed with raised portions z', while depressed portions the raised portions, and then by suitable devices the wire E is inserted to connect-the member to the cloth.
In F e'd way of accomplishing the same results. In Figure l` the socket member L is formed withv peripheral projections Z, which are tubular and are arranged suitable distances Patented May e, ,1aed-.2.
parts, as clearly illust-rated in These parts are arranged i the parts e and across the. The wire is 7c are left between igures 4 and 7, I have shown a modif apart tov provide open `spaces Z. The wire spaces or curved recesses n between the tubular parts m. The wire E3 is inserted vacant spaces between them, and a flexible wire arranged in said tubular parts.
3. A garment fastener comprising a memberhaving in its peripheral portion hollow tubular parts adapted to receive a wire when inserted endwise and which tubular parts are arranged suitable distances apart to provide spaces to receive portions of the cloth to which the button is applied.
In testimony whereof, I have vhereunto subscribed'rny name.
