Description

H. EEFTINK.
EAVES TROUGH HANGER.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 23, I921.

I HermanEe/Z UNITED STATES PATENT F ICE:
'KERMA EEFTINK, or Lnoronp, MIssoURi.
Eavnsanouii Hansen. I
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, HERMAN EEFTINK, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Leopold, in the county of Bollinger and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eaves-Trough Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention relates to'new and useful improvements in eaves trough hangers. I
The primary object of the invention 1s to provide a trough support or hanger which tained in its adjusted-position by a support- .ingarm, the latter being capable of various adjustments with respect to the main supporting bracket. I v
Still another object of the invention resides in providing a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and onewhich will be very efiicient in operation;
With these and other objects in' view my invention consists in the novel features ofconstruction,combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claims. i In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, r I V Figure 1 is a side elevation of mydevice applied to use, the trough or lttI being shown in section; i
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the hanger removed, with parts. in hanging position; and Y Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the trough or gutter removed.
In describing the invention I shall referto the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which 1 designates a building of which the side wall 2 has the eaves 3 projecting thereover. My
invention contemplates the provision of a trough support orhanger capable of application to the cornice below the eaves. -To this end I provide a base plate or strap 4 drawing.
, Specifwamn of tt r? nt. Y Patented Ma 2,1922. I Application filedMa'rch 23,"1921. seria1 no. 454,671. I l l provided with a plurality of'orifices 5ar-I' ranged thereinat' predet'e'rmined distances from one another, and the upper portion of thls strap or base plate is bifurcated and formed into a pair of knuckles 6 which con stitute a portion of a hinge. The openings.
5 provide means whereby bolts or the like 7 may be introduced thereto for the'purpose of securing th'e plate to the cornice. A
knuckle '6 to pintle 8 extends through the complete the hinge. Y
An arcuate strap or hanger 9 is provided, the inner end of which is extended laterally as shown at 10 to form a knuckle for cooperation with the knuckles 6, completing the hinge between the member 9 and the'ba se".
plate or strap 4. The'arcuate strap or hanger 9 is'designed to support the gutter or trough 11 and theouter end of said support or hanger is curved or bent as shown at 12 to receive thei' ein the bead l3' of-lthe-f 5'5 trough.
It will be seen .9, and the outer end of the same is adapted to receive therethrough one of the retaining bolts 7 of the base plate 4, as shown in the plate is engaged. with the outer end of the arm 14, but it will be understood that the in various other positions, the arm '14: may
beengaged withothe r of the bolts 7;
g 7 that the bracket or support? 9 1s plvotally 0r hingedly secured to the up per end of thebase plate 4 in order to sup-.
Thus the one boltfof thisfbas'e i From the foregoing it will beseen that I have provided a simple, inexpensive .and'
efficient 'means for carrying out the objects ofthe invention, and while I have particularly describedthemeans best adaptedwto. perform the functions v:set forth, various changes inform, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be 'resorted towithout departing from the-spirit or vention.
sacrificing any ofthe principles ofthe in- What I claim is:
-1. A'n eaves trough hanger comprising a baseplate, an arcuated bracket hinged to the upper portion thereof, and means carried on: the underside of said bracket and adjustably connected with said base plate for retaining a the bracket in various adjusted positions and substantially supporting same.
2.;An eaves trough hanger comprising a base plate, an arcuated bracket hinged to the upper portion thereof, and a supporting arm pivotally carried on, the underside of said bracket and means for connecting the free ends of the supporting arm with said base plate to retain said bracket'in various ad- 10 justed positions.
3. An eavestrough hanger comprising a base plate,.1neansfor securing the same to a structure, an arcuated bracket hingely con nected to theupper end of the base plate, and an arm pivotally connected with said bracket on its underside, said pivoted'arm provided with a flattened end adapted to be adjustably connected with the means forfsecuring said base plate to the'structure.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
