Description

' To all whom it may concern.'
'ES Parent Y WILLIAIVIL. BRWNQOF 'GLOVERSVILLE NEW YOR?" rnarrrc einen on SIGNAL.
rainwaappucaeon ruga october 4, i921. :semina 505,364; i,
Be it known that I, WILLIAM L.
of G loversville, in` the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Traffic Guide or Signal, ofr
which the following is a description.
My invention relates to a guide orsignal for use in directing trali'ic in streets andi' highways and particularlythe invention re lates to a suspended device for the indicated purpose.
The general object of my invention is to.v provide a traflic guide or signal of exceed-A ingly simple construction adapted to display at its four sides a desirable legend, such as Keep to the right and having means to illuminate the interior, as well as novel means to suspend the device on a cable, such as the cable of an electric lighting system,
a further purpose being to provide an arrangement affording ready access to the light.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one eX- ample of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a traffic sides with'windows 11 in which Celluloid or other transparent medium may be employedf The body 10 has a central bore 12whichis open at the lower end. The forming :of theY window leaves corner posts 10a sustaining I .said socket affording support forsaid tbody.
the top 13 through a vertical hole 14fin which a cable 15 passes downwardly to theinterior BRowN, i a 4citizen of the vUnited States, and a resident of the body. 4iiabl/eis indicated asanv 'electric cable carrying at its .lowere'nd an electric lamp 16.
v"ILhe body 10 is supported'on the cablel as follows: A11-elongated sleeve 17 is provided fon .the cable abovethe lamp socket 18 and t-he top 13 ofthe body 10 rests on said sleeve.
Advantageously, in practice, ythe top 13 is slidable yon' the cable 'so that the body- 10 mayfberaised more or less for increasing lthe accessibility of the lamp 16 Vfor renewing the bulb. I
The cable is'of the type adapted to beheld is indicated at 19. l I would state in conclusionthat while the embodiment of my invention, I do not limit myself strictly` to the exact details herein illustrated, since, manifestly, the same can .be considerablyvaried without' departure fromv the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my claim:
1. AV tralic guide comprisinga hollow body open atthe-bottom to afford access invention, I
thereto and provided-with side windows,
bearing a guiding legend, a suspension cable passing slidably through the ytop of. the body, an illuminating v means on A said, cable within said body, and a sleeve fitted on the .cable above said illuminating means, -said y body at the top thereof havingsupport. on
'said sleeve and freely slildable vertically. i
2. Atraflic guide comprising a hollow body open at the bottom .to affordaccess -thereto and provided with side windows, bearing a guiding legend, a suspension cable passing Specification ofLettersiPvatentg -V Pail1tem1ted Apr. 25, 1922.
by a supportingwire, a fragment of which illustrated example' constitutes a practical .i
thrugh the top of thev body, a .lamp socket on said cable within` said body, and means on said cable at the interior of the vbody above WILLIAM LQBQROWN,
