7 Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 25, 1922.
Application filed. September 13, 1921. Serial No. 500,346.
T 0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SAMUEL RosnNBLUM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lynbrook, Nassau County, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tassels, of which the followin is a specification.
lly invention relates to improvements in tassels used for decorative purposes in trimming furniture, dresses, hats and the like and it is my object to construct a tassel that will yield to pressure and come back to its original form when the pressure is removed. Heretofore such tassels have been made over a hard, unyielding core, generally of wood, which has split. when subjected to undue pressure or else injured a person accidentally sitting on it. Tassels have also been made over cotton batting cores but they do not return to the original shape after crushing.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown one form of my lmproved tassel construction. Fig. 1 is a view of a finished tassel, which does not differ in appearance from tassels heretofore made: Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the structure of Fig. 1.
The tassel is made over a flexible, resilisuspending loop 2 runs through an opening in the end of the core 1 and is fastened thereto as is best shown in Fig. 2. An ornamental fringe 3 is placed over the core and an ornamental covering 4 over the core and fringe top thus completing the tassel.
I do not limit myself to any specific material, size or shape in making the core, so long as it is soft flexible and resilient, yields to pressure and returns to its original form when the pressure is removed.
I, claim v 1. A tassel comprising a soft flexible, resilient core, an outer, ornamental covering and means for attaching the tassel to another article.
'2. A tassel comprising a soft flexible, resilient core, depending fringe thereon, an outer ornamental covering over the core and means for attaching the tassel to another article.
SAMUEL ROSENBLUM.
