PORTABLE CHILDS TOILET SEAT.
Application filed October 25, 1919. Serial No. 338,317.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER D. TURN- QUIST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ogden, in th county of Weber and State of. Utah, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable Childrens Toilet Seats, of which the following is a specification.
.The object of my present sole invention is the provision of a sectional and foldable toilet seat folf the use of a child; the said seat having the capacity of convenient portability in a package of small compass, and being adapted to be expeditiously and easily unfolded and locked in a position for use, after which it may be superimposed upon an ordinary full size toilet seat.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, hereby made a part hereof:
Figure 1 is a plan View illustrating the seat in unfolded state and in readiness to be locked so as to secure all of its sections in the same plane. v
Figure 2' is .a smaller view with the seat locked and ready for use.
Figure 3 is a transverse section taken in the plane indicated by the line 66 of Figure 2, and showing the securing means.
Similar numerals of reference designate I corresponding parts in all of the views of the drawings,
Among other elements my novel 'ClllldS .toilet seat comprises four sections 1, 2, 3 and 4, which may be made of wood, fiber,'metal or any other material com atible with the purpose of the invention. he said sections in outline are preferably of the shape shown in Figures 1 and 2, and their inner concave edges 5 are preferably, though not necessarily, beveled, asillustrated. The opposed ends of all of the sections, excepting the opposed ends of the sections 3 and4, are con- Specification of Letters Patent.
nected together through the medium of hinges 6, there being three of the said hinges employed, and they being by preference of the flush type, as illustrated.
Connected by glue or otherwise to theunder sides of the sections, are cushioning disks 7, of rubber or other suitable material.
In the free nd of the section 3 are sockets 8, and carried-by said free end is a-grooved plate 9 of metal; the said plate straddling the outer edge of the section as shown.
Carried by the free end of the section 4 are dowels 10, and also carried. by the sec tion 4 is a grooved plate 9 similar to the'o'ne before alluded to. I
Straddling andslidable on the secondnamed-grooved plate 9 and equipped with tongues 11 is a locking or securingmember'- 12. When the seat is unfblded to place all of the sections in the. same plane, the looking or securing member 12 is moved endwise over the first-named plate 9, when, vwith the:-
claim and desire to secure by Imtters- I Patent, is a The combination -of sections the ends of which are adapted to be opposed, straddling grooved plates on SRldSQCt-IOIIS atthe outer edges of their ends, and a'slidable looking or securing member straddling one of the a plates and movable longitudinally on and off the other plate and having tongues'movable in the grooves of the lates.
