Application filed April 29, 1920, Serial No. 377,573. Renewed June To all whom it may concem:
Be it known that I, HERMAN WALTER TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Athens, in the county of Brad ford,'State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Collapsible Stove; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to collapsible stoves and has for its object to provide a device of this character which ma be entirely collapsed so that it is particuliirly adapted for use of campers, tourists, hunters, etc. Also to construct the stove so that proper drafts are provided thereby allowing a fire to be easily built and maintained no matter or charcoal or inflammable materials.
A further object is to provide a collapsible stove pipe which may be easily and quickly attached to the top of the stove.
A further object is to provide a collapsible warming oven wall of the stove so that articles may be kept warm while other articles are being cooked.
A further members forming the walls of the stove so that they may be folded upon each other in such a manner as to form a compact bundle so that it may be easily transported from place to place.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it beingainderstood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the lnvention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a erspective view of the stove showing the col aps'ible oven and collapsible stove pipe attached thereto.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the oven, showing the stack removed therefrom and also the oven detached, and showing the parts in the positions they assume during one of the folding operations.
F i re 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectiona view through the collapsible stove and the lower portion of the smoke stack.

portion of the smoke stack and a portion of the stove top showing the means for securingthe smoke stack to the stove top.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the warming oven showing the same detached. F gure 6 is a view of the oven collapsed.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the stove with the oven detached.
Figure 8 is a perspective view showing the sides of the oven folded upon each other and "the front in position to be folded upon the top so that the top and front may be folfied against the rear face of the rear Wa Figure 9 is a perspective view of the stove showing the position of the parts when the grate is being placed in position or removed from the stov Figure 10 is a view showing the oven entirely collapsed.
Figure 11 is a detail sectional view of a portion of the stove showing the supportlng means for the grate.
Figure 12 is a detail sectional view through the collapsible smoke stack showing in dotted lines its collapsed position;
Referring to the drawings, the numerall designates the oven section and 2 thestove section. The stove section 2 comprises the rear wall 3 to the ends of which are hingedly 5. The'top 6 of the stove is hingedly connected as at 7 to the upper horizontal edge of the back 3 and forms a top for the stove, which top is provided with cooking opening 8 wh1c h are normally closed by means of pivoted lids 9.
'A front wall 10 is pivoted as at 11 to the the side walls5 and the bracket 17 carried by the rear wall 3. The top 6 is provided with an opening 18 through which the products of combustion pass to a collapsible chimney 19. Opening 18 is provided with upwardly extending flanges 20 which are parallel to each other and are adapted to receive the flanges 21 carried by opposite sides of the smoke stack 19, thereby providing a detachable smoke stack which may be easily and quickly applied and one wherein the es- \storage and transportation purposes.
stove pipe 19 isfheldin extended position cape .of the products of combustion around the top opening 18 is prevented. The stack v19 is formed from four sections 22 which are hingedly connected together as at 2 3 so that the same can'be collapsed and flattened for The when in use by the interengagkilng flanges 20, and 21,- it being understood t at extensions to thesmoke stack may be provided if so "desired; The sides 5 are provided with hooks 24 which engage over the lugs 25 carried by theiis'ection 12 of the front 10, thereby securely holdingthe front in position and also isfolded onto the top of the top 6 and the top 6 folded rearwardly into engagement with the backsurface of the back wall-3, as shown in Figure 8. Thus it will be seen that the stove section 2 may be entirely collapsed and the stove pipe19 also collapsed.
I the sides 5 of ,the'stove'.
of the oven 1 has hingedly connected thereto as at 33 a cover 34, which cover may be ,raised as desired toplace articles for warmsame.
The oven'section 1 comprises the rear wall 26 which has hingedly connected as at 27 sidewalls 28, which side walls are held to their position when in use by means of the bottom 29 supported by brackets 30, carried by the side walls. The oven as a whole is connected to the stovesections 6 by means of hooks 31 which engage lugs 32 carried by The rear wall 26 ing in the warming oven and to remove the When it is desired to collapse the oven section theoven is detached, the bottom 29 removed and then the oven if so desired may be flattened out as shown in Figure 6. The first operation of folding is to fold the sides 28 onto the inner face of the back wall 26, then the top 34 is folded against the outer face of the back wall 26 as shown in Figure 6'. It will be seen that the oven iscompletely collapsed and that the oven may be while in its collapsed condition stacked on the stove which has previously been collapsed and the grate 15 of the stove, also the bottom 29 of the ovenmay be disposed in the same compact package. By providing the collapsible smoke stack, it will be seen that the smoke stack may be collapsed and also put in the same package.
' From the above it willbe seen that a camping stove is provided, which is particed that it maybe collapsed into a small compass and transported from place to place.
The invention having been set forth What is claimed as new and useful is A collapsible stove comprising a back wall, I
side members hingedly connected to the ends of the back wall, a stove cover hingedly connected to the upper horizontal edge of the back wall, a front wall hingedly connected 'ularly adapted for use by campers, trappers, and others and that the same is so constructto the front edge of the stove cover, said front wall being formed in two hingedly connected sections,.the lower hingedly connected sections forming means for admitting air to the stove adjacent its bottom, means carried by the side walls and rear walls and interlocking with a grate, said grate forming means for maintaining the stove in its extended position, a rectangular shaped collapsible stove pipe provided with flanges, a stove pipe opening in the top of the stove having flanges adj acent opposite edges thereof for the reception of the collapsible stove pipe flanges and means for securing the front walls of the stove to the side walls thereof.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HERMAN WALTERTAYLOR'.
