Description
H. C. DANIEL.
INFANTS NURSING CHAIR.
I APPLICATION FILED FEB. 2, 1921.
Patented Jan. 17, 1922.
INVENTOR A. ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HELEN C. DANIEL, OF SOUTH JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.
INFANTS NURSING CHAIR.
To all whom it may concern:
Be 1t known that HELEN O. DANIEL, a
Q citizen of the United States, residing at 541 Landon Street, South Jacksonville, county of Duval, State of Florida, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Infants Nursing Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in infants nursing chairs and while particularly adapted for nursing and the care of infants, can also be used as an ordinary chair.
The main and particular objects and advantages of my invention are to provide a chair of simple construction, easyto operate and which will give the maximum amount of comfort to the infant and its nurse. Another object is to provide a chair in which all articles used for the comfort and care of the infant can be kept and stored, within easy reach of the .nurse. Still another object is to provide such a chair of pleasing design, inexpensive in construction and which, when in ordinary use will have the size and appearance of an ordinary chair.
These and other objects and advantages will be clearly understood from the following drawings and specification of apreferred form of my invention, although various modifications might be made without departing from the scope of my invention.
' Fig. 1 is a view of a preferred model of my invention showing the chair with the various attachments closed. is
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the various attachments open to view.
Referring to both views simultaneously 1 is the frame of a reclining chair, having rockers 2 and a reclinable back-rest 3, this back-rest being so constructed that it can be.
lowered to the position shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 1 thereby forming a continuation of the seat 4. The arm-rests 5 are vertically slidably mounted on the frame work 1 so that they can be raised or lowered in relation to the seat 4.
In front of the chair and under the seat 4 a drawer 6 is provided, having a drawer pull 7. This drawer has a number of compartments 8 arranged within it and also a sliding cover 9 which can be pulled out by means of the handle 10, thus closing the com-- partments 8. When thus closed it serves as a Specificationof Letters Patent. Patented Jan, 17, 1922 Application filed February 2, 1921.
Serial No. 441,859.
drawers also having handles 12 and various arranged compartments 13. On the top of the arm-rests5 close fitting covers 14 are provided. These covers are made to hinge on pivot points 15 which are located at each end of the arm-rests 5.
On Fig. 2 one of these covers 14 is open I cured a frame 19 which passes under the.
crib proper and also terminates in a pivot point 20. .Between these pivots 18 and 20 the crib is supported- This crib consists of a lower portion 21 and an upper portion 22, the upper portion being removable and acting as a netting to cover the crib.
The lower portion 21 as well as the upper portion 22 of the crib consist of oval metal frames 23 and 24 to which open woven, flexible fabric or other material is attached.
It will a be readily seen that as the crib proper is made of flexible material and as the frames 23 and 24 are pivotally mounted that the whole crib can be readily swung back and down into the hollow space 16 and be concealed by closing the cover 14. The
space 16 in the other arm-rest 5 may be used for storing a similar'crib or for other storage purposes.
As it may at times be desirable to prevent the chair from rocking, or to make the moving of the chair, from place to place, easy, casters 25 are provided. These casters are mounted on levers 26 back of the rockers and are connected with a hand-lever 27 by means of which they maybe made operative or inoperative by raising or lowering them.
From the foregoing description the operation of the chair will be self-evident.
I claim:
In combination with a reclining chair having drawers in the lower part of the arm rest frames, a pivotally mounted infants crib, having an upper and lower frame to which flexible fabrics are attached, a crib support having, an upright member, vertically slidable and revolvingly mounted in a hollow space formed in the arm rest, to-
gether with an arm rest cover pivotally two subscribing Witnesses, this 27th day of mounted at the ends on the arm rest and January, 1921. so constructed as to conceal the hollow space after the crib and crib support have been HELEN D 5 folded and lowered therein. Witnesses:
In testimony whereof, I have signed my CHAS. A. GREEN,
name to this specification in the presence of L. N. GRAIN.
