To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT H. HENE IER, a citizen of'the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoe Pads, of which the following is a specification, such as willenable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
I This invention relates to what are known as horseshoe pads and principally devices of this class composed of resilient material, such for example as rubber, or rubber and canvas; and the object of this invention is to provide a device of the class specified with a detachable non-slipping plate'which, in addition to its non-slipping feature, also serves to reinforce and strengthen that portion of the pad with which it is connected thus materially extending the life of such pad; a further object being to provide means which is imbedded in the horseshoe pad for detachably connecting the non-slipping,
plate therewith, said means also serving to reinforce and strengthen that portion of the pad in which it is mounted; and with these and other objects in view the invention consists in a device of the classand for the purpose specified which is simple in construction and operation andeflicient in use, and
which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed. a
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, ofwhich the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by'suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a bottom plan view of a horse-v shoe pad of the usual form and construction,

In Fig. 4. of the drawing 1 have shown a slight modification otthe construction shown. in Flg's. 1 to 3 inclusive, in which the bosses 15 of the member'12 are provided with'torwardly directedrib members 25, which ex: tend'into the ribs 11 of the pad5 and serve to reinforce saidribs, and the rib members 25 are also preferably provided with apertures 26 through which the material of the ribs 11 is adapted to pass to securely hold and bind the rib members 25 in position.
- It will be apparent that the member 12 constructed as shown'in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive, or as shownin Fig. a, is preferably hnbeddedin the pad in the manufacture ofsaid pad and forms a part oifthe pad when produced. The plate members 21 may be connected with the padwhenever desired and,

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A'horseshoe pad of the class described comprising a substantially disk-"shaped base having onone face thereof a pro ecting portion provided with forwardly directed ribs, said base, pro ecting portion, and ribs 'be ingco'mposed of resilient material, an an- 5 chor m'ember'imbedded in the projecting portion of said pad and adapted to reinforce the same, said anchor member comprising a .ietallic strip. at the ends of which are bosses which open outwardly through the outer face or" the projecting'portion oi the pad,

In a horseshoe pad of the class described. provided With an enlarged portion, an anchor and reinforcingmember imbedded in said enlarged portion of the pad, a plate member mounted in a recess in the face of said enlarged portion, and means for detachably securing said plate member to said anchor and reinforcing member.
8. In a horseshoe pad of the class described provided With an enlarged portion, a plate member imbedded horizontally in the face of said enlarged portion, and means in said enlarged portion of the pad with Which said plate member is detachably connected.
