DEVICE FOR HANGING AND PRESSING TROUSERS.
ranc er.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 2d, 1921.
Application filed November 3, 1919. Serial no. 335,265.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, JOHN J. Gnronr, a citizen of the United States, residing at 'lulsa, in the county of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Device for Hanging and Pressing Trousers.
This invention relates to garment hangers and pressers and has especial relation to devices for pressing and hanging trousers.
An object of the invention is the provision of a device of simple construction and operation, by means of which one or more pairs of trousers may be hung and held in position to retain their proper shape and smooth ness.
Another object is the provision of a device of the above character, which in addition to creasing the trousers and holding them in proper longitudinal stretched position, will also stretch them transversely, so that all undesirable wrinkles and creases will be eliminated.
A further object is the provision of means for separately pressing the culls ofthe trousers, separate adjustment being provided to allow for their increased thickness.
Other objects and advantages oi the in vention will appear as the following descrip tion is read in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings Figure l is a side elevation of the invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary edge view of the same, a portion of the device being shown in section.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary elevation of a portion of the upper end of the invention.
Fig. a is a section on the line l--l of Fig. 1.
Referring specifically to the drawings, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the invention is shown as comprising spaced pairs of longitudinally extending clamping members A and A, which are adapted to engage the opposite sides of a pair 01 trousers along the edges of the same. These members A and A are provided at one end with hook shaped extremities C and C, the latter extending laterally from the members A and A and passing through elongated openings B and B provided, in hanger elements X. The ele merits X are spaced farther apart than the members A and A so as to provide for the lncreased thi kness of the trousers cutls. The extremities or" the hooks C and U spaced from the members A and A. to provide for the removable elements X, so that the latter may be detached when the device is packed for shipment. Connected to each of the elements, 5;, are the opposite ends of a corrugated strap S, the latter being of substantially inverted V shape, while a ring it engages over the clamp S for the purpose of holding the elements X against outward movement after the latter have been clamped upon the trousers cufi's. The hook H is carried for the clamp 53, by means of which the device may be suspended.
The clamping members A and A are adjustably clamped along the edges of the trousers by means of substantially U shaped clamps E, an adjusting screw K serving to hold the clamping members in position.
Pivotally secured to one of each pair of clamping members as shown at P, is a rod G, the opposite end oi these rods being pro vided with wedge shaped projections a l, which are adapted to engage teeth T formed in the opposite clamping member of each pair. By this means the members of each pair may be relatively adjusted, the formation of the openings B and B providing a sliding connection between the said members and the elements X.
The-invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention what is claimed is 1. A garment hanger comprising oppositely located main clamping members, means for securing the clamping members to a garment, auxiliary clamping members adjustable upon anc. secured. to each of the main clamping members and means whereby the auxiliary clamping members may be secured to the garment.
2. A trousers hanger comprising oppositely located main clamping members, means for securing the clamping members upon the legs of the trousers, slotted auxiliary clamp. ing members, means carried by each the main clamping members for engagement in the slots of the auxiliary clamping members and means whereby the auxiliary olamsing members may be secured upon the bottoms of the trousers independent of the main clamping members.
8. A trousers hanger comprising-oppositely located main ,olainging members, means for securing the clamping members upon the legs of the trousers, auxiliary clamping members slielahly secured tothe main clamping members and capable of relative lateral adjustment and means for sea ment with the-auxiliary clamping members and means for hold ng the auxlliary clamping members in clamped position;
JOHN J. GETGEY.
