This invention relates to furniture, and has special reference to furniture adapted particularly for use in constricted places, such. as are found in apartments and bungalows for dining purposes, such arrangements Pullman breakfast rooms. I

One important object of the present invention is to provide furniture for a room of this description, which may be readily" moved out of the way at 'times when notin use, and whichmay also, without diiiiculty, be quickly placed in position for use.

A second important object of the inventionis' to provide improved funiture of this description wherein the chairs and table commonly used will cooperate, the chairs being so arranged as to properly sup-port the table in unfolded position.

With the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.

In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:

provided adjacent thebracket 14 with an angular portion 21 which, when the table is unfolded, engages the floor, as shown in Fig. 5, and prevents further downward movement of the table.

From an inspection of Figures 4 and 6, it will be seen that the table 17, when unfolded, is in a horizontal position, and is supported by the links 19 and arm 15 while,

when the table is folded up, the arm 15 is raised to a vertical position and the sliding member is slid upward so that the table 17 can assume a vertical position, as clearly shown in Fig. 6.

Each of the chairs used herewith consists of a pair of bag legs 22 suitably held together by cross bars 23, and to these legs are hinged the seat 24, and rungs 25, the seat and rungs being connected respectively by suitable hinges to the front legs 26. One of these front legs 26 extends upward above the seat, and to the upper end of this front leg is hinged a chair arm 27 having its rear end hinged to one of the rear legs 22. This chair arm 27 is of proper height to support the table 17 when the chair is unfolded, and for that purpose projects forwardly beyond the front leg 26, as shown at 28. It is preferred to use four or more chairs with set in the usual manner.

It will be observed that these chairs may be either provided with casters 29, or the latter may be left off. In any event, when the chairs are not in use, they may be folded by the simple operation of raising the front legs whereupon the parts assume the position shown in Fig. 8. The chairs may then be placed against the wall of the room or alcove, as it is sometimes called, and with the table in raised position, the furniture will all be out of the way.

It will be obvious that with this construction, it is not even necessary to provide a special alcove as is now common, but the table may be put in any convenient position, for instance in a kitchen, and the chairs, when not in use, placed against the wall of the kitchen adjacent the table, or in any other convenient place. It will also be obvious that a table constructed in this manner may be made as long as convenient, so that in place of accommodating only four persons, it may be made sufliciently long to accommodate an increased number.

There has thus been provided a simple and elficient device of the kind described, and for the purpose specified.

It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention ,without in any way departing from the spirit of the invention. It is not,

therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new,is:

1. In a device'of the kind described, a fixed vertical support, an arm pivoted at one end to the lower part of said support,

a table pivoted at its center to the free end of said bar, a sliding member mounted on said vertical support, a link connection pivoted at, one end to the edge of the table and at its other end to the sliding member, and a plurality of chairs positioned and arranged to constitute supports for said table when the latter is in unfolded position.

2. In a device of the kind described, a fixed vertical support, an arm pivoted at one end to the lower part of said support, a

table pivoted at its center to the free end of said bar, a sliding member mounted on said vertical support, a link connection; pivoted at one end to the edge of the table and at its other end to the sliding member, and a plurality of chairs positioned to be engaged by the table when in'unfoldedposition and each provided with an arm of suflicient height to constitute a support whereon said table rests in said unfolded position. v
